A sorting installation and a sorting method jointly sort two kinds of flat mail items. For each article to be sorted, a value that a prescribed sorting feature assumes for the article is measured. The article is transported by a first transport device to a separating filter. An article of the first article kind is redirected in a first outward-transfer device. On the basis of the ascertained sorting feature value, one sorting output from a first set of sorting outputs is selected. The article is transferred outward to the selected sorting output from the first sorting output set. An article of the second article kind is redirected to a second transport device and transported to a second outward-transfer device. On the basis of the ascertained sorting feature value, one sorting output from a second set of sorting outputs is selected.

Sorting installation and sorting method for jointly sorting different kinds of articles

A transfer device for mail items with a transfer unit which has an ejection point for transferring individualized mail items to an item carrier is provided. Further, the transfer device includes a transport device for transporting the mail items to the ejection point in a direction of transport. The transport device includes two belts for holding the mail items on both sides and for transporting the mail items and further has means for adapting a space between the belts to the thickness of a mail item. The means for adapting is a belt tilt means which is pivotal about an axis of rotation, the pivotal movement pivoting one of the belts and therefore a distance between the belts is variable.

A sorting installation for letters of a first kind and letters of a second kind includes circulating stacking locations for receiving the letters of the first kind delivered in any desired sequence, and circulating end locations ordered by destination addresses. A first controller is operable to transfer a letter of the first kind from a circulating stacking location to an end location assigned to a destination address of the letter of the first kind. The installation includes further letter-stacking locations for letters of the second kind. A second controller is operable to transfer a letter of the second kind from a letter-stacking location to an end location assigned to a destination address of the letter of the second kind.

Sorting installation and sorting method for letters and large letters

The invention relates to a container for flat objects in a vertical position, comprising a base, two lateral longitudinal sides and two front sides, the flat objects being aligned with their largest surfaces facing the front sides. At least one front side consists of at least one material web, whose axes run parallel to the base, which is mobile in relation to the front side and can be displaced downwards into a gap in the base. The material web is flexible and thin and is suspended by its ends that run perpendicular to the longitudinal sides between two bars. The lower bar is configured in the gap in the base and is displaceable and the upper bar can be displaced between the base and the upper edge along the front delimitation of the longitudinal sides.

Container for flat objects in a vertical position

The present invention relates to a method and a device for stacking flat mailings, in which the thickness of each individually conveyed mailing that is to be stacked is detected within a main control loop. The underfloor belt is displaced away from the stacking location by a distance that corresponds to the measured thickness minus a specific distance by means of a stack support for the arriving mailing. The stacking force is measured at different heights in the area of the stacking roll in a static correcting control loop and is re-regulated by moving the underfloor belt within set point values established for the allowed stacking force ranges once each mailing has reached the stop.
