The present invention relates to a method for repairing a protective lining of an industrial reaction or transport vessel, such as a converter vessel, electric arc furnace, or ladle. The method comprises identifying combined areas of the lining having a thickness below a predetermined threshold value by means of a measuring device, which measuring device measures the residual thickness of the lining and a processing unit, which processing unit in a first step transforms the residual thickness data into binary data, by comparing the measured residual thickness data with the predetermined threshold value for the thickness of the lining, and assigning the binary value '1' to areas of the lining having a thickness below the pre-determined threshold value, and the binary value '0' to areas of the lining having a thickness equal or higher than the pre-determined threshold value, or vice versa, in a second step combines isolated areas of the lining having a thickness below the predetermined threshold value into combined areas of the lining to which the binary value for areas of the lining having a thickness below the pre-determined threshold value is assigned, and in a third step computes the position and repair sequence of each of the combined areas and transfers these data to a repair device, and applying monolithic lining material onto the combined areas computed by the processing unit by means of a repair device.

Method for repairing a protective lining of an industrial reaction or transport vessel

A system and method for measuring the inner space of a container provides for the measurement of the wear of the lining of a container such as a torpedo ladle optionally while the ladle is still hot. The interior lining of the container is scanned by a scanner head from a first position in the container which is at an angle relative to the vertical axis of the container. The scanner head is placed in a second position in the container at an angle relative to the vertical axis of the container and from the second position the scanner head scans the portions of the interior lining of the container which were not scanned during the first position scan. By comparing the scanning measurements of the lining from the first position scan and the second position scan after the container has been loaded and unloaded with an initial reference measurement of the lining the wear of the lining can be measured.

System for measuring the inner space of a container and method of performing the same

A system for recording an object space has a opto-electronic distance sensor which uses a signal propagation time method, and a transmitter for transmitting optical, signals, as well as a receiver (E) for receiving optical signals, reflected by objects located in the target space. The system comprises a scanner for deflecting optical axes of the transmitter and receiver (S and E). The optical axes of the transmitter and receiver (S and E) for example, are substantially parallel. An evaluation system determines distance values from the propagation time or phase position of the transmittal optical signals, and the space coordinates of the individual data elements result from the distance values and the beam deflection implemented by the scanner. The system comprises a rotary measurement head mounted on a pillow block, and a mirror system fixed relative to the measurement head, which deflects beams axially incident on the hollow shaft in the radial direction and vice versa. The radiation from stationary transmitter (S) can be introduced in the axial direction relative to the hollow shaft and can be transmitted in the radial direction through the mirror system. The radiation reflected by the targets located in the object space, can be deflected by the mirror system in the direction of the axis of the hollow shaft and be supplied to the receiver (E), which is also stationary.

According to the invention, a method for identifying and determining die position of a metallurgical vessel for measuring its fireproof lining using electromagnetic radiation, an operator is defined in relation to a two or three dimensional structure with a known shape and size. Distance values and corresponding measuring angles are determined in the area of the structure and measured distance value and corresponding measuring angles are used to scale the operator. The dimension and resolution of the operator in the pixel coordinates system and the anticipated values of the operator are adapted to the measured polar coordinates. A result value is then formed from the differences between the anticipated values of the operator and the measured values and the location of the structure that is sought is determined from the position of the minimum result value.
