This invention concerns a device used in the process of manufacturing an automobile pane equipped with a polymer frame placed on the edge of the pane The frame is extruded onto the pane which can be moved by means of a suitable support in such a way that the edge of the pane travels through a recess in an extrusion head and The recess of the extrusion head preferably includes a U-shaped jaw straddling the edge of the pane. At the front extremity of the two half-jaws of the U-shaped jaw there are disposed sealing ledges or shoes and which are movable perpendicularly to the surfaces of the pane and which, during extrusion, bear upon the surfaces of the pane. Alternatively, the extrusion head can include a fixed jaw where the sealing ledges or shoes slideably and sealingly contact the plate.

This invention concerns a device used in the process of manufacturing an automobile pane 1 equipped with a polymer frame 52 placed on the edge of the pane 1. The frame 52 is extruded onto the pane 1 which can be moved by means of a suitable support in such a way that the edge of the pane travels through a recess in an extrusion head 25 and 40. The recess of the extrusion head 40 preferably includes a U-shaped jaw 41 straddling the edge of the pane. At the front extremity of the two half-jaws of the U-shaped jaw 41 there are disposed sealing ledges or shoes 42 and 43 which are movable perpendicularly to the surfaces of the pane and which, during extrusion, bear upon the surfaces of the pane. An automobile glass pane is provided with a frame molding of a polymer. The molding has a portion with a U-like cross section. In this portion, an adhesive bead is introduced, the bead serves for bonding the glass pane to the attachment flange of the window opening in the vehicle bodywork. The lateral limbs of the U-like portion of the molding are internally provided with anchoring projections for mechanically holding the adhesive bead in place between the limbs without any separate adhesive or bonding.

An automobile glazing pane, ready for installation, is pre-equipped with a mounting frame of an elastomer. The mounting frame is disposed only on the side of the glass pane facing towards the fixing flange of the window frame, without engaging around the edge of the glass pane and is bonded to the glass pane. It possesses a mounting groove for the clamped fixing of the pre-equipped glass pane to the fixing flange of the window pane.

An automobile glass pane, intended for adhesive fastening, is provided with an extruded-on profile frame, which has a U-shaped profile section (3) with a channel-like depression, the side ribs of which are provided with anchoring projections. The adhesive composition (16) is introduced into the channel-like depression. The materials of the profile frame and of the adhesive composition do not enter into an adhesive bond with one another, instead the connection between the hardened adhesive composition (16) and the profile section (3) is provided by the mechanical interlocking alone. To be able in an emergency to press out the glass pane from inside easily and quickly, at the bottom of the channel-like depression there is laid a flexible cord (10), of which at least any intersection is led out from the frame inwards. By pulling out this cord (10), the release of the mechanical interlocking between the hardened bead of adhesive and the frame profile is made easier.

Vehicle window pane prepared for adhesive fastening

A detachable mounting of a window pane to a frame of a window opening is disclosed for use primarily in motor-vehicles. The window pane is provided on its edges with a profiled frame made of elastomer. This profiled frame has a U-shaped segment with an opening facing the fixing rim of the frame of the window opening, the internal cross-section of the segment widening outwards, so as to receive a mounting bead of adhesive. The flanges of the U-shaped segment are themselves provided on the inside with retaining projections. The profiled frame and the bead of adhesive do not adhere to each other, the joint being provided solely by mechanical interlocking between the retaining projections and the bead of adhesive after it cures. Because of the shape of the profiled frame, the window pane may be re-installed after having been temporarily removed from the window frame by pressing it toward the cured bead of adhesive which remains attached to the fixing rim, until there is complete interlocking of the two elements beyond the retaining projections.

For the extrusion of a calibrated profile of a thermoplastic polymer onto articles, the polymer, which is melted in an extruder (17), is fed, via a heated pressure hose (22), to an extruder head guided by a robot (5) and, by means of said extruder head, extruded and deposited on the article. At the end of each extrusion operation, the material flow to the extruder head is maintained and, by means of a change-over valve within the extruder head, redirected into an outlet orifice provided in the vicinity of the die orifice until the commencement of the subsequent extrusion operation. The redirected material flow emerges from a pipe connector (29) which is arranged on the extruder head and is coupled to a coupling piece (33). The material collected in this manner may be pelletized and fed back to the feed hopper (16) of the extruder (17).

Process and device for extruding a calibrated profile of a thermoplastic

A process for the production of a plate with a polymer frame shaped onto the edge of the plate. The frame is extruded onto the plate while the latter is held stationary in a working station of a handling automaton or robot with a support device which corresponds to the shape of the plate in such a way that the edge of the plate projects freely over the support face of the support device. With the aid of the robot, an extrusion die having a through, mouth-like slot with two jaws engages the top and bottom surfaces of the circumferential edge of the plate as the mouth-like slot engages the plate edge. At the front end of the two jaws of the die mouth, there are sealing ledges movable at right angles to the plate surfaces, which are supported on the latter during the extrusion process.

Process for producing an automobile pane, equipped with a frame of elastomer of a predetermined shape by extruding the elastomer onto the periphery of the pane and beyond the pane and defining at least a part of the shape of the elastomer as it is extruded by positioning mold surfaces beyond the periphery of the pane.
