A sealing ring for a shaft (), characterized by a sealing lip () made of an elastomer material is flexionally dimensioned with a flexional elasticity which is sufficient for pressing a sealing section () of the sealing lip () against the surface of the shaft (). The sealing section () of the sealing lip () is disposed with a cylindrical part of a given length (L) on the periphery of the shaft (). The sealing lip () is provided with a thread () at least along the above-mentioned length on the shaft side, whereby a discharged medium is transported back to the sealing area (M) when the shaft () is rotated. By dimensioning accordingly, it is possible to dispense with an additional spring for pressing a sealing lip () against the shaft (). The thread () is also sealed off from the surrounding area (U) in order to prevent the medium to be sealed from flowing out when the shaft () is not in operation.

Shaft sealing ring

A shaft sealing ring for a shaft comprises a sealing lip made of an elastomeric material or a PTFE compound and dimensioned as to be flaccidly bendable. The flexural elasticity is selected such that it will just be sufficient to press a sealing portion of the sealing lip into sealing engagement with the periphery of the shaft. The sealing portion of the sealing lip engages the periphery for a predetermined length. In the sealing portion, the sealing lip is provided along its circumference, at the side of the shaft, with endless, undulating return channels at least throughout this length. These channels return any medium escaping during rotation of the shaft to the space to be sealed. The return channels do not communicate with the surroundings of the shaft sealing ring. No seperate contact pressure means, such as a helical ring coil spring is required to press the sealing lip into engagement with the shaft.

A rotary shaft seal having an elastomer seat for fitting into the bore of a hub or for the attachment onto a shaft comprises a seal washer, connected to a metal enforcement ring through a elastomer intermediate layer. The elastomer intermediate layer consists of a material having a chemical endurance comparable to that of PTFE, in particular of fluorocaoutchouc, and has a thickness of less than 0.5 mm, preferably in the range of 0.05 mm to 0.5 mm. This intermediate layer connects the seal washer with the enforcement ring according to a method according to the invention by simultaneously vulcanization with the elastomer seat on the outer side of the enforcement ring, wherein the injection pressure acting during injection and vulcanization is kept away from the intermediate layer.

Method for manufacturing a cylinder head cover for a combustion engine

A shaft packing includes a casing and at least two polymeric disks. One disk forms a protective lip and the other disk forms a packing lip. The internal diameters of the disks are smaller than the external diameter of the shaft to be packed. Between the two disks is positioned an expanding ring which ensures an inversion and expanding of the packing lip in the opposite direction to the protective lip.

A seal for sealing the end of a shaft passing out of the end wall of a casing, as well as for sealing the end wall, is characterized in that a gasket receptacle is manufactured as a light metal pressure die casting, that a polytetrafluoroethylene sealing member is pressed from one side of the gasket receptacle towards which a recess is open and the radially outer portion of the shaft seal ring is injected round on either side with an elastomer material via a connecting channel of the die casting towards an end wall-side groove for receiving a static gasket during its moulding to the gasket receptacle. In the final operating stage, the sealing lip of the sealing member penetrated by a tube is bent axially by drawing onto a sleeve.

Method for the manufacture of a shaft seal

A seal for sealing the end of a shaft passing out of the end wall of a casing and for sealing the end wall includes a gasket receptacle produced as a light metal pressure die casting. A sheet metal ring with a shaft seal ring molded onto it is pressed radially and axially into a recess in the die casting. The gasket receptacle is plastically deformed and the radial internal dimension of the sealing edge of the seal ring is set within the requisite narrow tolerance limits. A radially directed outer portion of the sheet metal ring is covered on both sides with elastomer.
