The present invention relates to an exhaust system for a combustion engine, more preferably of a road vehicle, with at least one exhaust gas-conducting component having a ring-shaped closed inner wall in circumferential direction, whose inner side is exposed to the exhaust gas. The energetic efficiency of the combustion engine can be improved with at least one thermoelectric generator which converts heat into electric energy and which is arranged on an outer side of the inner wall.

Exhaust system with thermoelectric generator

A sound generator system (), for a vehicle with internal combustion engine () and/or electric motor, has an electroacoustical transducer () and a control unit (). Transducer () produces an acoustical signal based on an electrical input signal and is connected to an acoustic line. The control unit () creates a primary audio signal with frequencies from a given frequency range, to selectively amplify selected segments ('V') of the primary audio signal so that the audio signal () amplified in the selected segments has a section in which all audio signal values correspond to a maximum amplitude value that is specified for the segment, and the audio signal () amplified in the selected segments is continuous at transitions from the at least one section to neighboring sections, and wherein the audio signal () generated by the control unit () forms the basis of the electrical input signal.

Active design of exhaust sounds

A static mixer for the through-mixing of a flow in a line conducting the flow, more preferably of an exhaust system of a combustion engine with several guide vanes. To create adequate through-mixing at low flow velocity and a through-flow resistance that is not too high at high flow velocity, the guide vanes are produced of a shape memory alloy wherein below a predetermined limit temperature the guide vanes have at least one low-temperature shape and above the limit temperature the guide vanes have at least one high-temperature shape, which differs from the low-temperature shape through a reduced through-flow resistance of the mixer.

Mixer and exhaust system

The invention relates to an exhaust gas treatment device for an exhaust system of a combustion engine, more preferably of a road vehicle, with a housing enveloping at least one interior space, and with at least one through-pipe penetrating the interior space without interruption and which at two fastening points distant from each other is connected to the housing in a fixed manner. For compensating thermally related expansion effects the through-pipe between the fastening points can comprise at least one expansion compensation section, in which a wall of the through-pipe comprises slits penetrating the wall alternating in circumferential direction and strips protruding relative to adjacent wall sections of the through-pipe.

Exhaust gas treatment device

The present invention relates to an exhaust manifold () for an exhaust system () of a combustion engine (), in particular of a motor vehicle, with an exhaust channel () for conducting exhaust gas, which comprises an inlet side () that can be connected to the combustion engine () and an outlet side () that can be connected to the exhaust system (), and with at least one coolant channel () for conducting coolant, which is arranged on the outside of the exhaust channel () and can be connected to a cooling circuit (). In order to reduce the thermal load on the exhaust manifold (), at least one thermoelectric converter () can be provided, which on the one hand is coupled to the exhaust channel () and on the other hand to the coolant channel () in a heat-transferring manner.

Exhaust manifold

The present invention relates to a method for operating a piston engine, more preferably of a motor vehicle, with a fresh air system for feeding fresh air to cylinders of the piston engine and with an exhaust system for discharging exhaust gas from the cylinders, wherein during a gas exchange by a positive pressure wave on the fresh air side the charging of the respective cylinder with fresh air and/or by a negative pressure wave on the exhaust gas side the discharging of exhaust gas from the respective cylinder is supported. An increased variability is obtained if the respective pressure wave is generated by at least one electroacoustic converter.

Piston engine, method and use

An exhaust system () of an internal combustion engine () is provided in a support structure (), especially in a motor vehicle (), with at least one exhaust pipe (), which guides exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine () to the environment () of the support structure (). At least one exhaust muffler () is provided which has at least one resonance volume () and at least one connection line (), via which the respective resonance volume () is connected to the respective exhaust pipe () for transmitting airborne sound. A space-saving accommodation is obtained if at least one such resonance volume () is formed in a resonance chamber () arranged rigidly in or at the support structure () and if the respective connection line (), with which the respective resonance chamber () is connected to the respective exhaust pipe (), is designed as a flexible connection line and permits relative movements between the respective resonance chamber () and respective exhaust pipe ().
