A programmable controller having a processing unit, a screen, a control panel, and signal inputs and outputs, all of which are accommodated in a common housing. Switching functions can be programmed by the user via a menu-driven user interface on the screen. The status display is capable of being switched between an active and an inactive display status of the screen.

Reducing the processor operating time for a programmable controller

A circuit configuration for a direct-voltage power pack of an electronically controlled switching device, particularly of a small programmable control system, which is externally supplied with voltage, having an arithmetic-logic unit, signal inputs and signal outputs. This circuit has a back-up supplier for the backup supply of the supply voltage and a detector for detecting the input voltage which is not backed up, the detector interacting with the arithmetic-logic unit in such a way that, in response to any voltage failure, the signal inputs are reliably prevented from being read in.

Direct-voltage power pack

The invention discloses a memory access control for coupled mask-program over microcontrollers in particular in connection with applications for memory storage programmable control in the low-cost region. The coupling of the microcontroller (MC1) and of the memory access authorization to the external program memory storage and data memory storage (7) is thereby based on a hardware wiring circuit in cooperation with a handshake provided by software. Always only one microcontroller accesses the external program memory storage/data memory storage (7) while the other microcontrollers access their internal program memory storage. The memory storage access is coordinated by the microcontroller (MC1) operating as a master through its output port (Px.y). On the hardware side the memory storage access signal (PSEN) and the address access signal (ALE) are multiplexed for the access-authorized microcontroller. The coupling based on hardware uses thereby the bidirectionally operable input-output ports (P0-P3) and their alternative functions.
