An orthodontic attachment, in particular a bracket, which is made of metal, consists of a foot section which is made of titanium or of a corrosion-resistant alloy consisting substantially of titanium, for bonding to a tooth, and of a functional section, which is made of stainless steel and which is mounted on the foot section.

Orthodontic device made of metal

This invention relates to an orthodontic bracket for retaining a wire arch for tooth correction, which bracket comprises a base part having single or double wings and are formed with an open-ended and open-topped transverse groove for receiving the wire arch, and also comprises a footpad secured to the base part and adapted to be adhesively joined to an adjacent tooth surface. A groove is formed in the base part and/or in the pad and extends on the underside thereof or particularly a tunnel is formed in said base part and/or pad, which groove or tunnel extends in the direction in which the wings are spaced apart and serves to anchor partial wire arches.

Orthodontic bracket

This invention relates to an orthodontic appliance comprising a low pull and/or a high pull, which low pull preferably extends through and is slidable in a guide sleeve of a nape pad, and the low pull and/or the high pull are provided at each end with a series of holes for a selective connection to spring elements connected to bow means. The novel orthodontic appliance is simpler, less bulky and less conspicuous. This is accomplished in that elastically stretchable flat strips of plastic material are provided at one end with an eyelet for connection to the low pull and/or the high pull at the series of holes and at the other end with an eyelet for connection to the bow means. That arrangement provides a pulling device which is flat rather than bulky and can easily be connected and which is convenient for the patient and can be made to have the color of the skin so that it is less conspicuous.

Orthodontic appliance

An orthodontic device includes an upper jaw thrust plate and a lower jaw thrust plate. These plates are connected to the teeth and are provided in the front teeth region with activating rods and slideways respectively, cooperating to effect a sagittal displacement of the jaws relative to each other. Two treatment stages are to be combined and an optimum result of the treatment within a reduced time is to be ensured. The upper or lower jaw thrust plate includes two sections, which are connected by a jackscrew mechanism, to which the activating rods are secured.

Orthodontic device

This invention relates to a wire-tensioning and/or -fixing orthodontic device comprising a bracket having preferably a bearing eye, a wire-engaging shoulder, and a retaining member which is rotatably mounted in the bearing eye and adapted to retain a correcting wire in engagement with said wire-engaging shoulder. For use in the lingual technique, the orthodontic device can be further miniaturized in that the base portion of the bracket has no flange arms and is secured to a backing pad and the latter is provided on the side opposite to the bracket with a metal fabric adapted to be adhesively fixed to a tooth. The backing pad comprises outwardly extending side arms (rotation-inducing arms, adaptation-inducing arms and activating arms), which are adapted to be activated by being bent.

This invention relates to an orthodontic spreader, particularly for correcting the positions of molars in the upper jaw, and comprises pressure-transmitting nuts for applying force at points which are as close as possible to the center of resistance. The spreader is capable of applying a high pressure and has a large spreading capacity and is as convenient as possible for the patient. The actuating screw for moving the pressure-transmitting nuts in opposite directions comprises an actuating portion, which is disposed between said pressure-transmitting nuts. Guide rods are slidably mounted in both pressure-transmitting nuts and carry stops which axially restrain said guide rods.

Orthodontic spreader

A wire loop adapted to be slung around a tooth to be rotated has two end portions which respectively extend through and are guided by two juxtaposed spaced apart through holes formed in a body. Polygonal roller means are rotatably mounted in said body between said holes and have radially outer edge portions. Said holes are laterally open toward said roller means to expose said wire end portions in said holes to said radially outer edge portions, which bite into the sides of said wire end portions in said holes. Said roller means are rotatable to move said wire end portions in said holes by means of said radially outer edge portions biting into said wire end portions.

Orthodontic device for rotating a tooth

The bracket comprises flange means adapted to be secured to a tooth of a patient, a bearing member having a neck portion connected to said flange means and a through hole on an axis which is transversely spaced from said flange means, and a rotary catch member mounted in said through hole for rotation on said axis and defining with said neck portion and said flange means a channel which is disposed on one side of said bearing member and open opposite to said neck portion and adapted to receive a wire so that the latter is engageable with said flange means. The rotary catch member is formed with actuating means which are peripherally spaced from said channel and engageable by an implement for rotating the rotary catch member. The rotary catch member is rotatable on said axis to a retaining position and in said retaining position is adapted to retain a wire in said channel. A U-shaped member is detachably fitted over said neck portion and has a crosspiece extending in said channel. The channel is adapted to receive a square-section wire in engagement with said U-shaped member. The rotary catch member is adapted in said retaining position to retain said square-section wire in said channel and in engagement with said U-shaped member.

Orthodontic bracket and method of retaining a wire therein

The bracket comprises a base which has an upwardly exposed portion and is free from resistance spot-weldable projections at its lower edges. Two anchoring means are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of said base and rise therefrom on opposite sides of said central portion. Said anchoring means define a longitudinal groove. In the appliance, a mounting strap is connected to the underside of said base by a soldered joint under said anchoring means and by at least one spot weld.

Orthodontic bracket and orthodontic appliance

Force-transmitting means serve to exert a correcting force on at least one tooth of a patient and comprise an elongated first element and at least one second element. At least one clamping sleeve resiliently clamps itself on said first element and engages said second element and has a radially inwardly tapering longitudinal slot, which is adapted to receive an implement which is operable to widen said slot so that said clamping sleeve is slidable along said first element.

The element is adapted to be fitted as an annular band around a tooth and to be secured to a dental appliance to hold the same in position. It includes a strip metal element having two end portions, which are adapted to overlap in the annular band, a first slide-snap fastener part, which is carried by one of the end portions and includes a tunnel member defining a tunnel passage extending longitudinally of the strip metal element, and a detent spring secured to the tunnel member and extending longitudinally in the passage, a second slide-snap fastener which is carried by the other of the end portions and includes a plurality of barblike oblique detent teeth spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the strip metal element and movable relative to the first fastener part in a closing direction into the tunnel passage. At least part of the detent spring protrudes transversely into the passage generally at an acute angle to the closing direction and is selectively interengageable with the detent teeth in a plurality of positions, which determine respective diameters of the annular band.

Dental fixing element

The bracket according to the invention includes the following structure: Flange means provided for securing the bracket to the teeth of a patient. A bearing member having a through hole on an axis that is transversely spaced from the flange means. Connecting means connect the bearing member and the flange means and have a neck portion. A rotary catch is mounted in the bearing member for rotation on said axis and defines with said neck portion and the flange means a channel, which is disposed on one side of the bearing member and open opposite to the neck portion and adapted to receive a wire so that the latter is engageable with the neck portion. The rotary catch channel is rotatable about the axis to and from a wire-retaining position and in the wire-retaining position is adapted to retain a wire in the channel.

A bracket has a longitudinal channel adapted to receive a wire arch. A retaining member is rotatably mounted in the bracket body and includes a retaining spider which is angularly movable to first and second retaining positions, in which the retaining spider extends across at least part of the width of the passage. The retaining spider is adapted in the first retaining position to slidably retain a wire arch in the channel and in the second retaining position to clamp a wire arch in position in the channel.

Arch wire retainer

The element is adapted to be fitted as an annular band around a tooth and to be secured to a dental appliance to hold the same in position. The fixing element comprises a strip metal element having two end portions, which are adapted to overlap in said annular band, two slide-snap fastener parts which are respectively carried by said end portions and selectively interengageable in a plurality of positions which determine respective diameters of said annular band, and one of the fastener parts including a bracket which is provided with a longitudinal groove for slidably receiving an orthodontic appliance. The bracket carries a clamping device which projects over the longitudinal groove, and is selectively and angularly movable to positions for slidable and clamping engagement with the orthodontic appliance received in the longitudinal groove.
