A method for identifying a fault condition in an electrical machine in which at least a stator or a rotor has parallel winding branches is disclosed. A measurement is carried out for obtaining a set of circulating current values between two parallel winding branches of which each winding branch includes a single coil. A frequency analysis is applied on the set of circulating current values to obtain at least one frequency component. A fault condition of the electrical machine is determined on the basis of the at least one frequency component.

A resistive voltage divider includes first and second resistors, which are electrically connected in series and are made of a resistive film material which is applied in the form of a trace onto an insulating substrate. An exemplary current sensor operating in accordance with the principle of compensation includes a primary winding creating a magnetic field based on a current to be measured, a secondary winding generating a magnetic field compensating the primary winding based on a compensation current. A method for driving a thrust body with a bidirectional linear solenoid drive having at least in each case one first actuator and one second actuator includes the steps of providing the at least one first actuator with at least one coil and a yoke and applying force alternately to the thrust body by interacting the first actuator with at least one armature ring. The armature ring is rotated with the second actuator to thereby axially shift the thrust body by the rotation of the armature ring. The thrust body is, then, shifted axially and is subsequently fixed in position with the thrust body being shifted in steps in this way until it has reached its respective final position. An electric power distribution system having a number of automatic protection breakers distributed on various levels is disclosed herein. Each protection breaker includes an electronic protection unit to open the breaker, which is controlled based on the amount of current flowing through the breaker and its derivative. Each of the breakers is preferably connected in order to exchange information concerning their respective status. Also disclosed herein is method for controlling the intervention sequence of the mutually interlocked breakers, in which a breaker reports a detected fault condition to its next higher level breaker.
