A glove compartment for motor vehicles which is adapted to be closed, preferably by a cover arranged in the instrument panel, and which is formed by a housing retained within the area of the instrument panel; the housing is provided with at least one circumferential weakening line which effects a reduction of the depth of the housing in case of a force interaction on the glove compartment directed opposite to the driving direction.

Glove compartment for motor vehicles

A lock for pivotal flaps, covers, or the like, especially for glove compartments in motor vehicles, with a curved locking member preferably rotatably supported at a pivotal part against the force of a spring, which in the locking position cooperates with its free end with a fixed locking member. The cooperating ends of the two locking members, as a result of an approximately rectangularly bent-off configuration in the form of an 'L' or 'U' effect a horizontal and vertical inter-engagement so that a mutual support in these two directions does not permit a disengagement of the ends of the locking members either in the upward or an opening direction of the pivotal flap.

Closure for pivotal flaps, covers, or the like

A fastening arrangement for a handle strip consisting of band-shaped high tensile material at an inner sheet metal wall of a motor vehicle passenger space by a clamping-type fastener, whereby a form-lockingly interengaging connection preventing rotation or twisting of the handle fastening arrangement about the clamping-type fastener is provided between the handle strip end and the sheet metal wall; the protection against rotation or twisting is thereby constructed in the form of a trough-like fastening recess pressed-out in the sheet metal wall, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the handle strip, corresponds approximately to the strip width and has at least approximately parallel side walls; the end of the handle strip serving the fastening purpose is inserted into the recess and is fastened therein.
