A method for controlling a construction machine can include dividing a work area into a plurality of work lanes; selecting a first set of consecutive work lanes of the plurality of work lanes that can be worked without an obstruction; and completing one or more passes on the selected first set of consecutive work lanes before moving on to another set of the plurality of work lanes.

A mobile milling machine can be equipped with a liquid spray system to introduce a liquid spray into a rotor enclosure to reduce the temperature of a plurality of cutting tools disposed on a rotatable cutting rotor. The liquid spray system can be associated with one or more surface wetness sensors to estimate the wetness of the work surface after the milling operation. The wetness of the work surface can be used to adjust the spray quantity of the liquid spray introduced by the liquid spray system.

A work machine includes a power generator configured to generate power to propel the machine, a brake system, an operator seat, one or more sensors, and a controller. The operator seat is rotatably mounted to the machine. The one or more sensors are configured to generate one or more signals indicative of an orientation of the operator seat relative to a direction of travel of the machine. The controller is coupled to the machine and communicatively coupled to the one or more sensors. The controller is configured to determine that the operator seat is out of alignment with the direction of travel based on the one or more signals and automatically actuate the brake system if the operator seat is out of alignment with the direction of travel for more than a first threshold time.
