Glycidyl methacrylate is produced by transesterifying methyl methacrylate with glycidol in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor and a transesterification catalyst in which the catalyst is a salt of formula MeX where Me is an alkali metal ion and X is a cyanide, cyanate or thiocyanate ion.

Process for the production of glycidyl methacrylate

An improved process for the trans-esterification of esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid in the presence of a trans-esterification catalyst and a polymerization inhibitor includes the use of about 0.05 to about 10% by weight of an alkali metal cyanide as the catalyst.

Process for the trans-esterification of acrylic and methacrylic esters

An iodophor solution useful for disinfectant purposes comprising 0.5 to 4% by weight of iodine, 1.6 to 15% by weight of a water soluble glycide polymer, optionally 0 to 30% by weight of phosphoric acid, and water in an amount sufficient so that the solution comprises 100 weight percent.
