A motor vehicle, in particular passenger motorcar, is provided. The motor vehicle includes a side member, a bumper and a crashbox. The crash box includes a main portion extending between a tip of the side member and the bumper and an anchoring portion pushed into an open end of the side member. A support body extends within the anchoring portion between walls of the anchoring portion located opposite each other.

A car body, for example, a front or rear frame is provided. The car body includes at least one crossmember and at least one pair of left and right braces that are arranged at least substantially symmetric to the crossmember. The car body also includes a shear element that is designed for absorbing shear forces during a collision and that is mounted on a brace of the pair, wherein no shear element is provided symmetrically thereto on the other brace of this pair.

A crash box for arrangement between a bumper and a longitudinal beam of a motor vehicle body is provided. The crash box is able to be arranged with a fastening profile at least partially overlapping to a mount profile of the longitudinal beam. The crash box has a support element, which penetrates the fastening profile transversely to its profile longitudinal direction (x) and is able to be brought into abutment in a supporting manner with an end section of the mount profile.
