Described is a method for channel management on one or more digital signal processors. The method distinguishes itself by the fact that channel management occurs at any time based on a current load utilization of each digital signal processor, taking into account an actual load requirement of each channel and a maximum total performance capacity of each digital signal processor. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method.

A terminal operated at a switching facility has at least one indicating element which indicates operating modes of another terminal allocated to the indicating element. The other terminal is operated at another switching facility. Calls to the other terminal may be picked up by operating a function element, e.g., pressing a key, associated with the indicating element that indicates the operating modes of the other terminal, when an incoming call to the other terminal is indicated.

At least one switching instance is provided in a VoIP system in order to set up a useful data link between a calling terminal and a called terminal. A first signaling link is set up between each terminal and the at least one switching instance for interchanging information on the basis of a first protocol, a second signaling link is set up between them for interchanging information on the basis of a standardization second protocol, in which the useful data link is set up on the basis of the information interchanged on the basis of the second protocol. A method for call answering in a distributed communications system having a plurality of communications devices, in which a subscriber can be registered on communications terminals associated with the communications devices in the distributed communications system. In this case, incoming calls are allocated to the communications terminals according to prescribable criteria. If a subscriber called by an incoming call is not available, an announcement function is performed which prompts activation of an announcement on a central communications device in the distributed communications system.

An image control unit, for generating control signals corresponding to text or graphic characters, in cooperation with a video display device having an image point storage device, produces plural signals including signals for controlling horizontal and vertical synchronization, for loading of the image point storage device, and for indicating reference marks on the screen of the video display unit. The image control unit contains a programmable memory for storing control words associated with lines to be represented on the video display unit in a plurality of blocks. A plurality of lines of each block are stored as one line in the memory and each line is read out repeatedly, in accordance with the line length of its associated block. The line length of each block is set by control signals stored in the ROM for the preceeding block.
