A check weight () that is used to check a gravimetric measuring instrument, specifically a balance, or to check a further weight, is provided with a means of identification. This marking which is applied on the outside surface of the check weight includes a permanently affixed machine-readable identification code () which makes the specific weight piece individually recognizable. This opens the possibility for a method whereby an individually identifiable check weight can be traced back in time. A system for tracing check weights back in time includes one or more reader devices () that serve to record the marking, one or more processors () wherein the machine-readable identification code can be converted back into an identification code that can be electronically processed, and one or more data storage units, in particular a database () serving to store at least the data contained in the identification code.

Check weight, method and system to ensure traceability of same

A sample changer for a balance ( ) with a weighing pan ( ) has at least two sample carriers ( ) that are spaced apart from each other. Each sample carrier is configured to receive at least one weighing-object unit and transport the weighing-object unit to the weighing pan ( ). An individual draft-shield element ( ) consisting at least in part of a transparent material is arranged above each of the sample carriers ( ), closing off a sample space laterally and from above.

Sample changer for a balance

In a method of weighing a load on a balance ( ), the load is passed between three different locations, i.e., a stationary holding location ( ), a load-handling device, and a load-receiver portion of the balance. At least one of the locations has vertically stacked load-receiving positions. The load receiving positions are horizontally cantilevered forks or beams on which the weighing loads are either set down or suspended.
