A method for producing data carriers equipped with integrated transponders is disclosed in which the transponders are supplied in a transponder web and are covered on one side with a label, wherein the transponders are separated and aligned before being assembled with an associated label. The disclosure further includes an apparatus for producing data carriers equipped with an integrated transponder that includes a device for supplying a first web of labels and a device for supplying a web of transponders adjoining one another and includes a joining station for cutting and separating the transponders from the transponder web which divides the transponders from the web, separates them and transfers them individually to the label web.

The invention relates to a device for laminating a layered structure ( ), consisting of at least two plastic strips in sections, comprising successive panels with designs, for producing plastic cards along a conveyor path. A data card includes a card body having at least one card top layer and at least one card bottom layer. The outer dimensions of the top and bottom card layers correspond to one another, and a module element is fitted in between the card top layer and card bottom layer. The module element has an integrated electronic circuit for processing and/or storing personal data. A levelling compensating layer has a levelling material and is disposed or formed between the module element and the card top layer and/or the card bottom layer for filling existing cavities in the module element or between the module element and the card top layer and/or card bottom layer. Process for producing plastic cards

When producing plastic cards, a plurality of layers is laminated under application of heat and pressure resulting in unpredictable shrinking. In order to compensate shrinking, the laminated web is elongated to adapt to its nominal alignment size. Elongation is produced by material displacement along grid bars separating to-be-fabricated cards later punched off the web leaving a waste grid.

A method to fabricate plastic cards is disclosed. A substrate tape is perforated with evenly spaced holes, and when placed in a working station, positioning pins engage into the holes. The spacing between two sets of pins is then slightly increased thereby tensioning the tape without stretching it thereby providing for highly accurate alignment.

In a system for processing a plastic web plural work stations are disposed on an elongated beam. The web is provided with positioning holes cooperating with complementary pins in at least one work station. As the distance spacing allocated holes may vary due to shrinking, the beam may be bent about a transverse axis into a ring sector shape thereby adapting the pin distances to the actual hole distances.
