An oxidation-protected brake disk is made of a fiber-reinforced ceramic material. A method of producing such a brake disk comprises applying at least one paint layer to a brake disk. In order to reduce damage to the brake disk under extreme thermal stress, the brake disk is provided with a layer of a highly temperature-stable paint that is viscous at the operating temperature of the brake disk.

Oxidation-protected brake disk and method of making same

A device can indicate the total load of a brake disk made of carbon-fiber-reinforced ceramic material. In order to create such a device, which can be used for brake disks and other friction elements made of carbon-fiber-reinforced ceramic material, an indicator element can be provided in the brake disk starting from the friction surface. The oxidation stability of this indicator element is reduced with respect to the material of the brake disk.

A friction body of porous carbon, which is infiltrated with silicon and reinforced with carbon fibers, includes at least one separate friction layer on a core body. In order to protect the friction layer against damage by outbreaking, carbon fibers in the friction layer are shorter than carbon fibers of the core body. Accordingly, different possibilities for producing a friction body with short fibers in the friction layer are possible.

A brake disk made of a fiber-reinforced material includes two assembled friction rings. The friction rings, on interior sides, are provided with ribs. The two friction rings are supported with respect to one another along at least a portion of the ribs. In order to provide a suitable shaping of faces of the ribs, faces used as coupling faces are constructed such that a coupling of the friction rings is caused in precisely one rotating direction and, in a particular case, such that the coupling faces are arranged in an alternating manner.

Brake disk made of a fiber-reinforced material

A brake disk for disk brakes of vehicles is made of a material of the carbon group and the brake disk is formed as a ventilated brake disk made up of two individual friction rings which are undetachably connected with one another. The two friction rings are connected with one another by way of pins which have a thickened center part and end parts which are set off thereto. The end parts are fitted into respective bores in the friction rings.

Brake disk

A brake disk for a motor vehicle, particularly made of a fiber-glass-reinforced material, includes two disk elements with ribs forming air ducts, which can be connected with one another. The ribs of the disk elements have mutually corresponding hook-type connections on opposite front surfaces.

Brake disk for a motor vehicle

A braking device for wheels of vehicles such as trailers includes a caliper in which brake linings are guided. Between these linings, at least one brake disk is displaceably held on driving toothing of a wheel hub. A pneumatically operable mechanical adjusting device interacts with the brake linings. The braking device includes at least one brake disk in a caliper which is fixed. On one end, the caliper is connected by a fastening element with an axle element of the vehicle. On the caliper, an enclosing housing for bearing the adjusting device is held. By way of a bearing plate, the adjusting device is also supported on the caliper. Pressure pistons of the device are guided by a one-part yoke in a jointly axially adjustable manner and can be acted upon by pressure with respect to the brake linings and the brake disks.

Braking device

A brake disk, particularly a ventilated brake disk, has at least one friction ring connected with a brake disk chamber by fastening screws. Each fastening screw is provided with a cylindrical projection which is adjoined on the end side by a threaded portion. The cylindrical projection of the fastening screw is arranged in a bore of the friction ring. The threaded portion of the screw can be screwed into the brake chamber.

Divided brake disk for thermal compensation

A brake arrangement, especially a disk brake for vehicles which includes brake pads guided in a brake caliper on both sides of a brake disk that are operatively connected with hydraulically actuatable actuating pistons. Each actuating piston includes a bore directed toward the brake pad in which an insert member is arranged that includes an element covering the piston end surface and is held with play with respect to the inner circumferential and bottom surfaces of the bore. The element consists of a plate-shaped intermediate inset member which is connected with the two insert members and is provided on its surface facing the brake pad with a friction-increasing layer.

Brake arrangement

A cooling device is provided for a vehicle having disc brakes which are disposed within a wheel rim cover portion of the vehicle's wheels. One type of disc brake for which the cooling device is designed is that type having generally radially extending internal air ducts between its friction rings through which air can flow for cooling the brake. The air is supplied to the brake through overflow ducts in the vehicle's wheel hub, and is conducted via a guide device from the inside of the wheel, through the brake unit. The guide device includes an air guide housing which surrounds the brake disc generally on all sides in a close, spaced relation to the disc. First and second external air ducts are formed between a wall of the housing and the friction rings of the brake disc. The housing includes an outer member having at least two influx openings. The influx openings conduct air, from inside the wheels, to the overflow ducts in the wheel hub, the external ducts, and the internal ducts. The wheel rim cover portion includes a plurality of external openings which are disposed adjacent the efflux openings of the housing and are aligned therewith to conduct air from the efflux openings to the aligned openings in the wheel rim cover portion and ultimately to an area outside the wheel.
