A road taping machine is configured to unspool road marking tape from a spool and tamp that tape onto pavement via a tamping roller. Tape is cut using a blade assembly, and aligned with several alignment rollers. A pivot arm permits a subset of the alignment rollers to displace, allowing slack in the tape to be taken in during cutting such that taping can occur continuously, despite cuts. The spool is housed on an axle anchored to a support arm that can be actuated between an elevated position for loading, and a depressed position for taping. A taping section of the machine is laterally displaceable relative to a drive section via a displacement plate, to permit taping of laterally remote locations. The machine can support multiple spools, including spools with tape paths that bypass the blade assembly.

Road taping machine

A ground marking apparatus is configured to apply marking material to a ground surface. The ground marking apparatus includes a beam supported by a beam mount and extending along a beam axis. A carriage is disposed on the beam and movable on the beam along the beam axis. A carriage motor operably interfaces with the beam and is configured to move the carriage along the beam. A dispense arm is supported by the carriage and is configured to move relative to the beam as the carriage moves along the beam.

A mobile thermoplastic applicator comprises a kettle, a main gas burner, a heat exchanger plenum, and a screed die box. The kettle has walls which define an interior space for melting thermoplastic. The main gas burner is situated beneath the kettle, and is configured to heat the kettle. The heat exchanger plenum is situated inside the thermoplastic kettle and is configured to subdivide the interior space and circulate heated air from the main gas burner. The screed die box is configured to receive molten thermoplastic from the kettle and deposit that molten thermoplastic on a surface.

An adjustable spacer platemounts over the US standard screed boxthermoplastic openingof 0.125&#x2033; and creates a 0.090&#x2033; opening.[This eliminates the need for the user to buy another costly screed box.] For screeding over stencils, the spacercan be flipped to create a zero clearance opening. This allows the thermoplastic to come out only when an opening in the stencil pattern is present. Also, as the diewears down, the spacer can be removed which lets the standard size opening be used as a substitute for the 0.090&#x2033; opening.
