A composition containing 2-ethylhexyl silicate, is produced by heating a reaction mixture of ethyl silicate with an excess amount of 2-ethylhexanol in the presence of titanium tetrabutoxide as catalyst to a temperature below the boiling point of 2-ethylhexanol while mixing, allowing the reaction mixture to react and, after the reaction, removing ethanol and excess 2-ethylhexanol from the reaction mixture by distillation and obtaining the composition containing 2-ethylhexyl silicate.

A composition containing organosilicon compounds having the formula I and/or II wherein R is ethyl, Ris a mixture such that the proportion of one component of the mixture is 10 to 50 mol % and is the same or different C-Cbranched or unbranched monovalent alkyl, and Ris a branched or unbranched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic, aromatic or mixed aliphatic/aromatic divalent C-Chydrocarbon is produced by reacting silanes having the formula III with mixtures of alcohols having the general formula R&#x2014;OH, with elimination of R&#x2014;OH, and R&#x2014;OH is continuously separated off from the reaction mixture by distillation. The organosilicon compounds can be used in rubber compounds.

Organosilicon compounds of the general formula I and/or II are produced by reacting silanes of the general formula III with alcohols of the general formula R'&#x2014;OH, with elimination of R&#x2014;OH, wherein R&#x2014;OH may be continuously separated from the reaction mixture by distillation. The organosilicon compounds may be used in rubber mixtures. Compounds, such as rubbers, produced using such organosilicon compounds.

Siloxane oligomers of the general formula I or IIwherein at least one functionalized alkyl group is present per oligomer molecule. The siloxane oligomers are produced by oligomerization of halogenalkyltrihalogensilanes, and co-optionally co-oligomerized with (C-C)-alkyl-, phenyl-, aryl- or aralkyl-trihalogensilanes and/or silicon tetrachloride, in the presence of alcohol and water, following which the halogenalkyl function is optionally modified in a further step. The siloxane oligomers can be used as coupling agents in rubber mixtures or as building preservation agents.

Process for the production of yellow bis(3-&lsqb;trialkoxy-silyl&rsqb;alkyl)polysulfanes with an iodine color index of &lE;10 mg iodine/100 ml, in which an organic acid is added to neutral chloroalkyltrialkoxysilane and then reacted with sodium polysulfide (NPS) or sodium sulfide (Na S) and sulfur or sodium polysulfide (NPS) and Na S in alcohol.

Process for the production of yellow bis(3-&lsqb;triethoxysilyl&rsqb;propyl)polysulfane with an average sulfur chain length of less than 4 and an iodine colour value of &lE;10 mg iodine/100 ml, wherein neutral chloropropyltriethoxysilane is mixed with chloropropyltrichlorosilane and then reacted with sodium sulfide (Na S) and sulfur, disodium tetrasulfide (Na S ) and Na S or disodium trisulfide (Na S ) and Na S in ethanol.
