A fan comprising a fan wheel with impeller hub and impeller blades, and electric motor with a stator and rotor that can rotate about rotation axis (RA) and has a rotor bell comprising an axially front-side rotor bell base. Impeller hub is fastened to the rotor bell wherein, in the rotor bell base, at least one aperture ensures a cooling air flow from the rotor bell. Fan comprises a cover plate arranged on the rotor bell base with a central opening, wherein cover plate covers at least one aperture of the rotor bell base axially spaced at least in sections, so that between the rotor bell base and an inner surface of the cover plate a radially inward extending flow channel toward the central opening of the cover plate is formed. The cover plate radially outward comprises an inclined or curved course in the direction of the rotor bell base.

A radial fan comprises a casing having a side portion and a pot-like casing portion, an impeller wheel arranged therein and having radially extending blades, an electric motor arranged at the side portion, and a pressure chamber which is formed by the casing portion and the side portion. The pressure chamber with the impeller wheel space between the blades forms in cross-section a nozzle in the manner of a venturi nozzle. The ratio of the greatest blade height H/greatest diameter D of the scroll is substantially between H/D=0.08 and H/D=0.3.

A radial fan impeller has the following features: a plurality of blades distributed around the periphery; viewed in the radial direction, the blades extend from an inner inlet region to an outer discharge region; the blades extend axially, viewed in the direction of a rotation axis, between an inlet side and an axially opposite hub side; on the inlet side, the blades are connected by means of their radial extension as far as the discharge region to a covering disc which has a central inflow opening, opening out into the inlet region; on the hub side the blades are only connected with their radial inner end regions to a central hub; the blades and the covering disc define an outer fan impeller diameter which is at least ten times an axially measured flow discharge width of the blades provided in the discharge region.

A radial fan includes an integrated circuit which is conductively connected to a printed circuit board to control a motor. The flow of air provided by a cooling impeller is conveyed directly to the integrated circuit to cool the integrated circuit during operation of the radial fan.
