There is provided a method of fitting a hearing assistance device () by using a fitting station (), the hearing assistance device and the fitting station both having a wireless communication interface (), comprising: generating, separately from the hearing assistance device and the fitting station, a production key, distributing the production key to both the fitting station and the hearing assistance device, and storing the production key on both the fitting station and the hearing assistance device; initiating, via the fitting station, a connection with the hearing assistance device, with the hearing assistance device accepting the connection in order to establish a non-encrypted connection between the fitting station and the hearing assistance device via the wireless communication interfaces; determining, by the fitting station, whether the fitting station has been previously paired with the hearing assistance device, and, if the fitting station has not already been paired with the hearing assistance device, using the production key in both the fitting station and the hearing assistance device as a shared secret in order to pair the fitting station and the hearing assistance device, thereby establishing a secure connection () via the wireless communication interfaces between the fitting station and the hearing assistance device; and conducting a fitting session via a secure connection between the fitting station and the hearing assistance device via the wireless communication interfaces.

The present invention proposes a sound tube () for an earpiece (), wherein a first section () of an inner surface of the sound tube () has a structured surface, in particular a textural pattern forming a relief comprising convexities () and/or concavities (). Alternatively or additionally, the sound tube () features a radially extending, circumferential flange (), annular lip (') or collar at an outer surface of the sound tube (). A data transmission system for use in hearing devices includes a master unit with a first local bit clock and a slave unit with a second local bit clock. The master unit and the slave unit are connected to each other via a bus line, and are configured to communicate over the bus line according to a communication protocol based on a frame-wise serial transmission of bits. Each frame includes a clock reference, a master signalling interval, a slave signalling interval and a data payload. The slave unit further includes a clock recovery device for synchronizing the second local bit clock with the first local bit clock based on the clock reference transmitted once per frame by the master unit. A corresponding method for data transmission is also provided. Moreover, hearing devices including such a data transmission system as well as uses of such a method for data transmission are proposed.

System and method for master-slave data transmission based on a flexible serial bus for use in hearing devices

A hearing device for being worn at least partly within an ear canal. A shell encloses a cavity with a first sound opening and a second sound opening and has a receiver within the cavity. The receiver is divided into a front chamber and a back chamber by a membrane, wherein the front chamber is in acoustic communication with the exterior of the shell via the first sound opening, and the back chamber is in acoustic communication with the exterior of the shell via the second sound opening. Furthermore, a method for manufacturing such a hearing device is given.

In accordance with an aspect of the invention, a method of fitting a hearing instrument to a user's ear is provided. The method comprises taking an impression of the user's ear canal and manufacturing, based on geometrical data of the impression, an earmold. In accordance with the aspect of the invention, the method comprises the further step of performing an acoustical measurement while the impression is being taken.

A hearing instrument receiver system for operation in an ear canal of a user for converting audio signals into sound, comprising a lateral receiver, a medial receiver and a flexible joint assembly connecting the medial end of the lateral receiver and the lateral end of the medial receiver in such a manner that the lateral receiver and the medial receiver are pivotable relative to each other in order to follow the shape of the ear canal.
