A visualization system includes an observation apparatus having a first image recording device to observe an operation region with a first observation plane, and an endoscope having a probe and a second image recording device to observe the operation region with a second observation plane. A display device represents a first image recorded by the first image recording device in a first orientation and a second image recorded by the second image recording device in a second orientation. The visualization system further includes a tracking system to determine an orientation of the endoscope relative to the observation apparatus and a controller configured to transform the second image based on the orientation of the endoscope relative to the observation apparatus.

Computer-implemented method, computer program and surgical system for determining the volumetric flow rate of blood through a portion of a blood vessel in a surgical field

A method and device are for generating and displaying a map of a brain operating field, brain tissue areas associated with a stimulated brain function being marked in the map. In the method, during a measurement cycle a stimulation of a brain function is effected and a stimulation image of the brain operating field with the stimulated brain function is recorded, a reference image without the stimulated brain function is recorded, the stimulation image and the reference image are used to generate the map, and the map is displayed on a display. A plurality of cycles are performed. A new map is generated after each cycle following the first cycle. In order to generate the new map, the stimulation and reference images of one or more preceding cycles are used besides the images recorded in the cycle just carried out. At least the new map is displayed after each cycle.

Method and device for creating and displaying a map of a brain operating field

An apparatus is for localizing brain tissue regions connected with a brain function in a brain operating field. The apparatus includes a stimulation apparatus and a localization unit with a camera. The stimulation apparatus is configured to carry out a number of stimulation cycles. Each cycle includes a stimulation phase during which the brain function is stimulated and a rest phase during which there is no stimulation of the brain function. The localization unit records at least one stimulation image with the stimulated brain function and at least one reference image without the stimulated brain function during each stimulation cycle and uses the recorded stimulation and reference images to localize the brain tissue regions connected with the stimulated brain function. The stimulation apparatus is configured to output a feedback signal to the localization unit with at least the start of a stimulation cycle being evident from the feedback signal.

Method and apparatus for localizing brain tissue regions connected with a brain function

A computer-implemented method determines a geometric feature of a section of a blood vessel in an operating region. An image of the section is provided. An adapted blood vessel model is provided via image processing for the section by adapting a blood vessel model, which describes the section as a flow channel with a wall delimiting the latter and with an axis of symmetry. A centerline of the section of the blood vessel is determined as a contiguous pixel line. A relative spatial position of the side of the wall is ascertained based on the centerline and the image provided. The geometric feature is derived from the adapted blood vessel model. The disclosure also relates to a method for determining the length of a contiguous pixel line in an image and a system for determining a geometric feature of a section of an object.

An endoscopic probe includes a handle with a front end, a rear end with a rear end axis and, extending between the front end and the rear end, a straight grip portion with a grip portion axis. The probe further includes a shaft extending from the front end of the handle and having a shaft axis, and a cable issuing from the rear end. The shaft axis, the rear end axis and the grip portion axis lie within a common plane. The shaft axis encloses an angle in the range of 100 to 140 degrees with the grip portion axis, the grip portion axis encloses an angle in the range of 110 to 130 degrees with the rear end axis, and the shaft axis encloses an angle in the range of 30 to 90 degrees with the rear end axis.

The invention is directed to a method for operating a visualization system which includes a surgical microscope assembly for viewing a surgical region under magnification. The surgical microscope assembly is provided with a computer unit having a display for displaying image data. A detection arrangement is configured to detect endoscopic images in the surgical region and is operatively coupled to the surgical microscope assembly. A circuit actuable by a viewing person is configured to detect actuation data. The circuit is configured to set an operating state of the surgical microscope assembly matched to the detection arrangement in response to a presence of the actuation data for the surgical microscope assembly.

Method for operating a visualization system for providing endoscopic images

A system combines an operating microscope and an endoscope. The operating microscope includes a light source with a first color temperature that illuminates a first portion of an operating field. The endoscope includes an LED light source with a second color temperature that illuminates a second portion of the operating field, wherein the two color temperatures are matched to one another in such a way that, in optical and/or digital imaging of the operating microscope and/or in optical and/or digital imaging of the endoscope, there are no perceivable color differences in portions of the operating field that are illuminated and observed jointly by the operating microscope and the endoscope.

An optical detection filter has a transmission spectrum for detecting fluorescence light of a plurality of different fluorescent dyes. In the range between 350 nm and 1000 nm, the transmission spectrum has a first stopband (S1) from&#x3bb;1 to&#x3bb;2, a first passband (D1) from&#x3bb;2 to&#x3bb;3, a second stopband (S2) from&#x3bb;3 to&#x3bb;4, a second passband (D2) from&#x3bb;4 to&#x3bb;5, a third stopband (S3) from&#x3bb;5 to&#x3bb;6, and a third passband (D3) from&#x3bb;6 to&#x3bb;7. Optical filter system and fluorescence detection system

An optical system for fluorescence observation comprises optics including an ocular, a camera, a display, a light source, an illumination light filter, an observation light filterand a controller. The observation filter has multiple transmitting regions which allows light which was generated by a fluorescence to traverse for observation. The transmitting ranges are divided by blocking ranges. At the wavelength ranges at which the observation filter has a transmitting region the illumination filter has a blocking region and the other way round. The multiple transmitting regions of the illumination filter enable an improved color impression under normal light observation. The controller is configured to process a fluorescent light image obtained by the camera by identifying a contiguous fluorescent region in the fluorescent light image, generating an image including a representation of the boundary of the contiguous fluorescent region, and supplying the generated image to the display.

Optical system for fluorescence observation

An optical filter system for florescence observation comprises an illumination light filter (I) and an observation light filter (O). The observation light filter has plural transmitting regions (D,D) allowing fluorescent light to traverse the observation light filter. Blocking regions (S,S) separate the transmitting regions. The illumination light filter has transmitting regions (D,D) where the observation light filter has a corresponding blocking region. The illumination light filter has blocking regions (S,S) where the observation light filter has a corresponding transmitting region. The plural transmitting regions of the illumination light filter hallow for an improved color impression in the normal light observation.
