An integrated circuit for a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag is described. In an example embodiment, the integrated circuit () comprises: a memory () for storing data; a transceiver () for receiving signals from, and transmitting signals to, an antenna (); and a controller () configured to process signals received via the transceiver () and to access data stored in the memory (); wherein upon receiving, via the transceiver module (), a lock command referring to a data block in the memory (), the controller () is configured to perform a data integrity check on the data block to determine whether the data block is strongly stored.

RFID integrated circuit

The disclosure relates to an integrated circuit for a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag. Example embodiments include an integrated circuit () for an RFID tag, the integrated circuit () comprising: a memory () for storing data; a transceiver () for receiving signals from, and transmitting signals to, an antenna (); and a controller () configured to process signals received via the transceiver () and to access data stored in the memory (); wherein upon receiving, via the transceiver module (), a lock command referring to a data block in the memory (), the controller () is configured to generate error correction data for the data block and to store the error correction data in the memory.

Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method performed by an RFID tag, the method including: receiving a request for a EPC serial number; determining whether the EPC serial number has a preset value; when the EPC serial number has the preset value, mapping a transponder ID to the EPC serial number; and providing the EPC serial number in response to the RFID read request.

Serialization of RFID tags

Various aspects are directed to the detection of tampering, as may be applicable to retail goods and a variety of implementations. As may be consistent with one or more embodiments, an apparatus includes a loop conductor having first and second ends and contiguous conductive material extending in a loop between the ends. A detection circuit detects continuity of the loop conductor and characteristics of power that is provided to the loop conductor and is indicative of validity of the continuity detection. A communication circuit communicates a wireless signal indicative of the detected electrical characteristics, and an energy circuit powers the loop conductor, detection circuit and communication circuit via received wireless power. Other aspects are further directed to an interrogator that provides the wireless power and evaluates the wireless signal to detect tampering with the conductive loop and validity thereof.

Tamper/damage detection

A system for managing a population of RFID tags where the system may include: an interrogator configured to transmit a select command to the population of RFID tags, and at least one modified tag in the population of RFID tags. The select command may include information specifying a memory location. The modified tag may include a memory configured with a memory address corresponding to the memory location specified by the select command, and a controller configured to perform at least one action upon the at least one modified tag receiving the select command. The at least one action may be based on the memory location specified by the select command.

System and method for managing RFID tags

Various exemplary embodiments relate to an integrated circuit (IC) including: an inventoried flag configured to indicate whether the integrated circuit has been inventoried in a current inventory round; and an event detector configured to detect a tag event at the integrated circuit and reset the inventoried flag based on the tag event. In various embodiments, the IC further includes a timer circuit configured to measure a predetermined time since the inventoried flag was set and to prevent the reset of the inventoried flag until the predetermined time has expired.

Session flag control for RFID tags

Radio frequency communications are effected. In accordance with one or more embodiments, a radio frequency communication circuit includes an antenna having a conductor and a semiconductor chip having a lower substrate surface coupled with the conductor to pass data carried by radio frequency signals to a radio frequency communication circuit in an active layer on an upper surface of the substrate. Accordingly, communications are facilitated via the substrate and can alleviate the need to use through-substrate connectors and further facilitate placement of the chip on the antenna.

In a receiving method for the contactless reception of identification information (I), which is stored in a data carrier (') and which can be received from the data carrier () in a contactless manner in the form of information units (IU, IU&#x2032;) with a communication device (), it is envisaged that firstly an information unit (R.IU) is received and that secondly it is detected that the received information unit (R.IU) represents a collision of two different information units (IU, IU&#x2032;) occurring essentially simultaneously, of which two different information units (IU, IU&#x2032;) the one information unit (IU) originates from a first data carrier () and the other information unit (IU&#x2032;) originates from a second data carrier (&#x2032;), and that thirdly a received information unit (R.IU) that represents a collision is replaced with a first replacement information unit (R.IU) established by the communication device (), which is used instead of the information unit (R.IU) representing the collision, as the information unit (IU) that originates from the first data carrier (), and that fourthly, the first replacement information unit (R.IU) is delivered in a contactless manner.

Data carrier circuit capable of supplying identification information to a communications arrangement

In a method for the determination of disconnection time information (DTI) significant for an inadequate power supply of an integrated circuit () of a data carrier () such as an RFID-tag. The disconnection time information (DTI) is determined on the basis of the discharge behavior of a first storage capacitor (C), which is affected by the IC material and by radiation, and the determined disconnection time information (DTI) is corrected in dependence on the effects of the IC material and/or on at least one radiation effect.
