A method for collecting biometric measurement data of an eye on the basis of different measurement modalities, allowing for physiologically correct, representative, and robust biometric measurement data. In the method, the measurement data for individual measurement variables and the dynamic behavior of the eye are recorded continuously at the highest possible repetition rate over the measurement time. The individual phases of the dynamics of the eye which define the limits of the phase for stable vision are analyzed on the basis of the measurement values, and only the measurement data for the individual measurement variables are output which have been detected during the phase for stable vision. Although the proposed method is provided for collecting biometric measurement data in preparation for a cataract operation, the method can also be applied to other areas of ophthalmology to generate error-free measurement data or recordings of the eye.

Method for ascertaining physiologically correct biometric data of an eye

A method of controlling a semiconductor-laser-diode-based SS-interferometer system (SS=swept source), for a wide range of application suitable for use in ophthalmology, for example for imaging and for determining biometric measurement values of the eye. In a method according to the invention, by application of periodic current modulation, the operation of single semiconductor laser diode is designed such that a highly coherent spectral laser line can be adjusted with a highest possible repetition rate over a wide wavelength range. The parameters: center wavelength, sweep rate, sweep range, optical power in the eye and coherence length are adjusted such that the method is suitable for imaging and biometric applications via whole-eye scans. A semiconductor-laser-diode-based SS-interferometer system is provided, for biometric measuring of the eye. Embodiments are based for example on optical, coherence tomographic scan images. Applications lie in ophthalmological diagnostics, treatment and the preparation of surgical procedures and follow-up thereof.

The invention relates to a solution for interferometrically measuring the eye length and the anterior eye segment after the optical axis of the measuring system has been aligned with the optical axis of an eye. A system for determining the surface shape of the cornea of an eye by analyzing the reflection of a spatially distributed ring pattern. The system includes an element for generating a ring pattern, an illuminating unit, an image capturing unit, and a control and analyzing unit. The element for generating rings is a fresneled axicon with annular structures of different radii. Furthermore, an optical element for illuminating the entire surface of the fresneled axicon with plane waves and an optical element for separating the illuminating and detecting beam path are arranged between the illuminating unit and the fresneled axicon. An ophthalmological measuring system, for obtaining biometric data of an eye, provided with the necessary calibration and check devices for monitoring the functionality and the calibration status. The ophthalmological measuring system includes an illumination source for illuminating an eye with light and with a sensor for recording and analyzing back-scattered or reflected light components and a controller. At least one calibration and check system integrated in the ophthalmological measuring system for monitoring the functional and calibration status is provided. Determination of biometric parameters of an eye, in which the optical axis of the biometric measurement system is aligned to the optical axis of an eye. The device includes an interferometry measuring arrangement having a measurement light source and a measurement sensor, a fixation light source for capturing the eye with the reflexes that arise, an image sensor, and lens for detecting volume scattered light and an analysis unit for determining the angular deviation of the optical axis of the eye from the optical axis of the biometric measurement system. The analysis unit compares determined angular deviation to a predefined tolerance and, laterally displaces fixation marks on the basis of the calculated angular deviation, or of initiating the biometric measurement.

Method and device for determining various biometric parameters of an eye by interferometry

An opthalmological measuring instrument, e.g. for determining the corneal curvature, anterior chamber depth, axial length, or the like, including measuring systems for determining measurement of the mentioned physical parameters. The measuring systems are connected to an evaluation unit which verifies whether quality parameters regarding the measurements are satisfied and generates a corresponding signal that indicates to the medical professional user that a proper measurement can be taken.

The device includes an interferometer, focuses at least one measurement beam records backscattered radiation and interferometrically generates a measurement signal displaying structures of the eye by time-domain, spectral-domain or Fourier-domain coherence reflectometry, has an adjustment apparatus for laterally and/or axially displacing the focus in the eye or for varying a polarization state of the measurement beam and has a control apparatus which actuates the interferometer, wherein the control apparatus generates a plurality of A-scan individual signals from the backscattered radiation, combines these to an A-scan measurement signal and actuates the adjustment apparatus for displacing the position of the focus or for varying the polarization while recording the backscattered radiation from which the control apparatus generates the A-scan individual signals is being recorded.

Optical coherence reflectometry with depth resolution

Spectrometer

An ophthalmological measuring system for obtaining biometric data of an eye with a view to the pre-operative determination of a replacement lens or supplementary lens or refractive operations. The invention includes a combination of a measuring instrument based on ultrasound, an optical measuring instrument, and an evaluation unit, measuring values of the optical measuring instrument and/or of the measuring instrument based on ultrasound being used by the evaluation unit for determining the biometric data of an eye. Furthermore, keratometric and/or pachymetric measurements can also be carried out. The combination of different measuring systems enables a complete examination or diagnosis of a patient on a measuring table, so that the patient does not need to be moved, or have to come back at a later date for more measurements.

The invention is directed to an arrangement and a method for measuring the anterior segment of the eye using interferometric means. The eye is illuminated by a convergent beam bundle and aligned with the optical axis of the measuring device by generating directional stimuli and accommodation stimuli by means of a display which is mirrored into the beam path.
