The present invention relates to a straight stem () for the implantation into a proximal femur, the stem () comprising a proximal stem section () and a distal stem section (), the distal stem section () having a distal end () and a distal tip () arranged directly adjacent to the distal end () and defining a distalmost point of the distal end (), the stem () having, in an anterior-posterior view, a medial contour and a lateral contour, and the stem () having a straight stem center axis () between the medial contour and the lateral contour, wherein the distal end (), in an anterior-posterior view, has a convexly curved contour, and wherein the convexly curved contour of the distal end () merges with straight sections () of the medial contour and of the lateral contour at a medial merging point () and a lateral merging point (), respectively, wherein the medial merging point () and the lateral merging point () are offset with respect to each other in a direction parallel to the stem center axis (), wherein the lateral merging point () is arranged proximally with regard to the medial merging point (), wherein the convexly curved contour of the distal end () is such that the distal tip () is medially offset with respect to the stem center axis (), wherein the convexly curved contour of the distal end () has a curved medial section extending between the distal tip () and the medial merging point () and a curved lateral section extending between the distal tip () and the lateral merging point (), and wherein the contour of the distal end () is asymmetrically convexly curved such that the degree of curvature of the curved lateral section is smaller than the degree of curvature of the curved medial section.

Straight stem for the implantation into a proximal femur

An implant is set forth having at least one first element and a second element, wherein the first element is provided in a pre-determined relative location to the second element, in particular at least partly in a recess of the second element. The first element has a pre-positioning location having play with respect to the second element and allowing a fully area gas sterilization of both elements and can be displaced from this pre-positioning location into an end positioning location corresponding to a fixed connection of both elements.

Implant and a method of manufacturing an implant packed in a sterile manner

A surface for a metal implant has a coarse structure of elevations and depressions, with the surface being permeated by a network of protruding ribs which form nodes and interstices or meshes having an interstice width of 2 mm to 0.4 mm, while the depressions represent sections of spherical cavities. The nodes of the ribs can protrude the furthest like mountain peaks, whereas the ribs which connect two nodes each form a lower lying saddle if the spherical cavities penetrate one another slightly. Through coating with an electrochemically resistant protective lacquer, into which holes can be shot at a predetermined spacing without damaging the metal, with a laser for example, a coarsely structured intermediary surface can be economically provided by means of electrochemical erosion which receives a fine structure through sand blasting.

Metal implant with anchoring surface

The invention shows a surface (2) for a metal implant (1) which has a coarse structure of elevations (3) and depressions (4), with the surface (2) being permeated by a network (5) of protruding ribs which form nodes (7) and interstices or meshes (8) having an interstice width of 2 mm to 0.4 mm, while the depressions represent sections of spherical cavities (11). Method for producing a metal surface

The element (20) according to the invention comprises a biodegradable body which is before or during the implantation of an orthopaedic prosthesis (1) inserted into a recess (2) in the prosthesis (1) such that the rigidity of the prosthesis is increased. The element (20) provides mechanical connection between the shell segments (1a, 1b, 1c) so that the element (20) performs a supporting function which reduces the elastic properties or the possibilities of movement of the outer shell (1). The ability of the biodegradable element (20) to transfer forces is increasingly reduced after the implantation so that the outer shell (1) of the artificial acetabulum has increasingly more elastic properties depending on the mechanical properties determined by the structure. Some time after the implantation, the biodegradable element (20) degrades so much that it no longer transfers any forces.

Element for temporarily increasing the rigidity of an orthopaedic

The element (20) according to the invention comprises a biodegradable body which is, before or during the implantation of an orthopaedic prosthesis (1), inserted into a recess (2) in the prosthesis (1) such that the rigidity of the prosthesis is increased. The element (20) provides mechanical connection between the shell segments (1a, 1b, 1c) so that the element (20) performs a supporting function which reduces the elastic properties of the outer shell (1).
