A liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal panel and a backlight unit under the liquid crystal panel and including a circuit board; a plurality of LED packages mounted on the circuit board; an encapsulation member over the circuit board and covering the plurality of LED packages; and a multi-pattern sheet over the encapsulation member and including a glass complex body containing a phosphor and a plurality of diffusion patterns on an upper surface of the glass complex body, wherein the plurality of diffusion patterns include at least one first pattern corresponding to an LED package and at least one second pattern corresponding to a portion between adjacent LED packages.

Backlight unit and liquid crystal display device including the same

A backlight unit includes a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) packages on a top surface of a circuit board, an encapsulation member located on the circuit board and covering the plurality of LED packages, and an integrated pattern sheet on the encapsulation member. The integrated pattern sheet includes a base layer, a plurality of reflective patterns at a bottom surface of the base layer and respectively corresponding to the plurality of LED packages, and a plurality of diffusion patterns at a top surface of the base layer, wherein the reflective patterns are configured with a relational expression of c+(t2&#x2212;t1)*tan {(sin(1/n)}&#x3e;d&#x3c;1.8p, where c, t1 and p are a width, a height and a pitch of the LED package, respectively, t2 and n are a height and a refractive index of the encapsulation member, respectively, and d is a width of the reflective pattern.

A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel; and a backlight unit disposed under the liquid crystal panel and including an LED assembly, wherein the LED assembly includes a frame portion, LED chips arranged in the frame portion in a line and spaced apart from each other, connecting portions each disposed between adjacent LED chips and connected to adjacent LED chips through wire bonding, and a sealing portion including a fluorescent substance and covering the LED chips and the connecting portions, and wherein the sealing portion changes light emitted from the LED chips into a linear light source.
