A wireless device may use two communication interfaces that utilize frequencies within the same band. As a result, a first communication interface such as an HDMI interface may interfere with operation of a second communication interface such as a WiFi interface. A conductive member is placed between the communication interfaces to reduce this interference. The conductive member has multiple slots, each slot having dimensions that cause resonance at a frequency used by the first communication interface. The number and spacing of the slots corresponds to the strength of signals used by the second communication interface. Placement of the conductive member between the first and second communication interfaces enables the conductive member to attenuate signals from the second communication interface that would interfere with the frequency used by the first communication interface.

Patterned housing element to reduce interference

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for using shared antennas for multi-protocol communication. Example devices may include a first antenna, a second antenna, memory and at least one processor configured to access the memory and execute computer-executable instructions to determine a first request for a first wireless radio to transmit first data for a first duration, determine a second request for a second wireless radio to receive second data during the first duration, and determine that a first signal strength associated with the first wireless radio is less than or equal to a first threshold. Certain embodiments may be configured to determine that communication associated with the first wireless radio has a higher priority than communication associated with the second wireless radio, cause the first wireless radio to transmit the first data using a first antenna for the first duration, and cause a second antenna to be idle.

Methods and systems for using shared antennas for multi-protocol communication

Described herein are technologies for intelligent antenna selection for optimal performance in an electronic device. One electronic device includes a first radio, coupled to a first antenna and a second antenna, and a processing device coupled to the first radio. During a first period, the first radio transmits a sequence of data packets using the first antenna and the processing device receives a first metric value indicative of a first amount of power received on a third antenna of the second electronic device. During a second period, the first radio transmits the sequence using the second antenna and the processing device receives a second metric value indicative of a second mount of power received on the third antenna. The processing device selects one of the first antenna and the second antenna as a selected antenna based on which one of the first metric value and the second metric value is lower. The processing device causes the first radio to communicate data with a third device using the selected antenna.

Antenna selection for interference avoidance

Systems, devices, methods, computer-readable media, techniques, and methodologies are disclosed for optimizing radio frequency configuration of a user device for better power management and faster time to first fix. The radio frequency configuration of user devices may be optimized based on user input analysis, machine learning, or crowd sourcing methodologies.

Individual radio frequency configuration for user devices

A plurality of UAVs may be operated in a fleet, each of the UAVs in the fleet being configured to work collectively to achieve one or more functions, such as to create a display or implement an antenna array. The fleet of UAVs may operate individually and/or may be coupled to one another to operate as a collective unit. In some embodiments, one or more UAVs in the fleet may operate individually, while two or more UAVs in the fleet may be connected to one another. In such embodiments, the individual UAVs and the connected UAVs may together comprise the fleet.

Mobile display array

This disclosure describes a power unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that may generate a current from a conductor of an overhead power line carrying an AC power signal. The power UAV has a receptor that includes a secondary coil. Current is generated by the secondary coil of the receptor from magnetic fields emanating from the overhead power lines while the power UAV is flying. The generated current may be used to fly the power UAV, recharge an energy storage device of the power UAV, or be provided to another UAV. In various implementations, while the power UAV is flying, the power UAV may receive another UAV, recharge the other UAV, and then release the UAV to resume flying. In various implementations, the power UAV may also monitor characteristics of the power delivery system.

Airborne unmanned aerial vehicle charging

Antenna carriers with magneto-dielectric material and beam-shaping elements for enhanced performance and radiation safety of electronic devices are described. One electronic device includes a housing, an antenna element disposed on an antenna carrier, and a printed circuit board (PCB) disposed within the housing, the printed circuit board including radio frequency (RF) circuitry. The antenna carrier can be made up of a plastic cap, a ground plane, and a magneto-dielectric substrate with both dielectric and magnetic properties. The plastic cap is disposed at a first side of the housing and the magneto-dielectric substrate is disposed on a top surface of the plastic cap. The antenna element is disposed on a bottom surface of the magneto-dielectric substrate and electrically coupled to the RF circuitry. The antenna element radiates electromagnetic energy in a resonant mode and the magnetic property of the magneto-dielectric material increase efficiency, frequency bandwidth, or both.

A user device obtains sensor data from sensors included in the user device. A set of current state information is determined based on the sensor data. A tuner code associated with the current state information is identified. Tuning values associated with the tuner code are varied during a training stage to determine an optimized tuner code. One or more antennae of the user device are tuned for communication in accordance with the optimized tuner code.

A user device selects a communication module from a plurality of communication modules of the user device to communicate first data to a first device in a first configuration, selects a first antenna from a plurality of antennas of the user device to communicate the first data in the first configuration, and couples the communication module to the first antenna in the first configuration. The user device additionally selects the communication module to communicate second data to a second device in a second configuration, selects the first antenna and a second antenna from the plurality of antennas to communicate the second data in the second configuration, and couples the communication module to the first antenna and the second antenna in the second configuration.

Reconfigurable antenna system

Devices or apparatuses for changing settings of a neutralization line are described. A radio device may include a neutralization line coupled between a first antenna and a second antenna. The neutralization line has a variable component and the first and the second antennas are electromagnetically coupled and have a first coupling value. The neutralization line is controlled by a controller. The controller is coupled to the first antenna port, the second antenna port and the neutralization line. The controller detects an environmental condition that causes the first coupling value increase to a second coupling value. The controller also adjusts a value of the variable component to change a resistance value or, a reactance value, or both of the adaptive neutralization line to achieve a third coupling value that is lower than the second coupling value.

Adaptive neutralization line to counter environmental effects for ultra-high isolation

This disclosure describes a power unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that may generate a current from a magnetic field of an overhead power line. In various implementations, while the power UAV is flying, the power UAV may receive another UAV at a platform. A control element of the power UAV may generate signals to cause the power UAV to fly to a location of a conductor of the power line. The control element may also determine a position of the secondary coil with respect to the power line and generate control signals to adjust the position of the secondary coil based on the determined position of the secondary coil, a determined safety distance, and/or a determined threshold distance for efficient current generation. A shielding substrate may also be provided to shield electronics of the power UAV or other UAVs from magnetic fields.

Deployment and adjustment of airborne unmanned aerial vehicles

An electronic device including a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna and a slot antenna is described. The slot antenna may be formed by a slot opening in a housing of the electronic device. The slot opening may be shaped as a rectangular slot, a T-shaped slot, or T-shaped slot leading into a circular opening. The slot opening exposes the NFC antenna and allows the NFC antenna to radiate in a first frequency band while the slot antenna radiates at a second frequency band.

Technologies described herein are directed to switching between antennas in response to a change in an isolation value identified using a neutralization line. A device may include a first set of antennas including a first antenna, a second antenna, a neutralization line coupled between the first antenna and the second antenna, and a controller. The controller is coupled to the neutralization line. The controller determines a first isolation value between the first antenna and the second antenna using the neutralization line, determines a change in isolation value between the first antenna and the second antenna to a second isolation value, determines that the second isolation value exceeds a threshold, and switches from using the first set of antennas to using a second set of antennas.
