A method of improving user experience for initial IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) registration is proposed. When a UE boots up or leaves flight mode, the processor of the UE determines a period Tn of time for IMS PDN initial setup on a single Access-Stratum Network, starting from sending IMS PDN setup request. Upon expiration of Tn, the UE aborts the IMS PDN set up request, and performs IMS PDN set up on another Access-Stratum Network. As a result, it allows the UE to rapidly use IMS service when boots up or leaves flight mode.

Method to avoid bad user experience by using rapid initial IMS registration

A Mobile communication network having a wireless transceiver, configured to perform wireless transmission and reception to and from a UE, and a controller, coupled to the wireless transceiver. The controller is configured to: send a message to the UE via the wireless transceiver, wherein the message comprises information for indicating an order and a priority of reading Access Point Name (APN) parameters or Data Network Name (DNN) parameters from a plurality of input sources, and wherein each input source comprises an APN value or a DNN value. The message comprises an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Management Object (MO), and the information is provided by an IMS configuration parameter in the IMS MO.

Configuration enhancements on access point name (APN) or data network name (DNN) selection in user equipment (UE)

A method for configuration enhancements on Access Point Name (APN) or Data Network Name (DNN) selection in a User Equipment (UE) is provided. The UE receives a message from a mobile communication network. In particular, the message includes information on an input source of an APN value or a DNN value. Based on the information, the UE uses the APN value or the DNN value to request establishment of a Packet Data Network (PDN) connection or a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session with the mobile communication network.

A User Equipment (UE) including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from a mobile communication network. The controller determines whether the mobile communication network supports IMS services. The controller establishes a Packet Data Network (PDN) connection or a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session with the mobile communication network for the IMS services via the wireless transceiver in response to the mobile communication network supporting the IMS services. The controller sends application data on the PDN connection or PDU session via the wireless transceiver.

Apparatuses and methods for providing reliable delivery of application data

A method for robust moving between a roaming Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network and a non-3GPP network is provided. The method includes the steps of: connecting with a home 3GPP network over one of a roaming 3GPP network and a non-3GPP network by a User Equipment (UE); performing a first initial attach procedure with the home 3GPP network over the other of the roaming 3GPP network and the non-3GPP network by the UE in response to the UE moving from the one of the roaming 3GPP network and the non-3GPP network to the other of the roaming 3GPP network and the non-3GPP network; and keeping the connection over the one of the roaming 3GPP network and the non-3GPP network by the UE during the first initial attach procedure over the other of the roaming 3GPP network and the non-3GPP network.

Apparatuses and methods for robust moving between a roaming 3GPP network and a non-3GPP network

Various solutions for avoiding packet fragmentation with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may determine a first maximum transmission unit (MTU) configuration of a session via a first network interface. The apparatus may determine a second MTU configuration of the session via a second network interface. The apparatus may determine a tunnel overhead size between the second network interface and the first network interface. The apparatus may select a transport protocol to generate a packet according to the second MTU configuration and the tunnel overhead size. The apparatus may transmit the packet via the second network interface.
