The disclosure relates to agricultural systems. The systems have stalk sensor assemblies and/or data visualization systems. The stalk sensor assemblies are configured for assessing the size and other characteristics about crops, such as corn and other grains entering an agricultural implement, such as a harvester. The stalk sensor assemblies may use an estimation of the stalk perimeter to establish stalk size and therefore further features about the crop. The visualization system utilizes data from the stalk sensor assemblies to calculate and display relevant information about the crop.

The disclosed apparatus, systems and methods relate to devices, systems and methods for reducing cross-track error in harvesting row crops such as corn. A cross track error system including a corn head, a row unit disposed on the corn head. The row unit including a set of stripper plates, a resilient member disposed proximal to the stripper plates, a sensor unit in communication with the resilient member, and a processor. The processor is constructed and arranged to process signals generated by the sensor unit in response to deflection of the resilient member.

A method of quantifying growing plants in an area is disclosed wherein the area is scanned with an active light sensor which provides a data signal when a plant is present that is distinct from the data signal provided when a plant is not present. The data signal is analyzed to determine at least plant population densities, the spacing of plants, the number of emerged plants versus planted seeds, the size of the area that has unproductive plants or an estimate economic and/or yield loss. Overlapping sample areas can be used to improve the accurate quantification of plants.

A combine bin level monitor may include a yield monitor to determine how much grain has been added to the combine tank, a container weighing system (e.g. scales on a grain cart) that measures the amount of grain unloaded from the combine tank and wirelessly transfers the amount to the combine bin level monitoring system. The system further includes a software routine in the combine bin level monitoring system that calculates and displays the bin level by adding grain accumulated by the yield monitor and subtracting grain accumulated by the container weighing system from the last known amount of grain in the combine tank. The accumulated grain is the amount accumulated since the last time the amount of grain in the combine tank was known.

A method and apparatus are described for creating a pass marker in a field. During planting, planting of seed is stopped and started on pass marker rows differently than on adjacent rows to create a visible offset to assist a harvester or applicator to find and drive down the right row to prevent skips and overlaps.
