An optical product can reproduce a first 3D image of at least part of a first 3D object and a second 3D image of at least part of a second 3D object. The optical product comprises a surface configured, when illuminated, to reproduce by reflected or transmitted light, the first 3D image without reproducing the second 3D image at a first angle of view, and the second 3D image without reproducing the first 3D image at a second angle of view. Each portion of first portions can correspond to a point on a surface of the first 3D object, and comprise first non-holographic features configured to produce at least part of the first 3D image. Each portion of second portions can correspond to a point on a surface of the second 3D object, and comprise second non-holographic features configured to produce at least part of the second 3D image.

Optical products, masters for fabricating optical products, and methods for manufacturing masters and optical products

An optical product can be configured, when illuminated, to reproduce an image that appears to be a 3D image of at least a part of a 3D object. The optical product can include a surface comprising a plurality of portions. Each portion can correspond to a point on a surface of the 3D object. One or more non-holographic features can be disposed within each portion configured to produce at least part of the image without relying on diffraction. An interference optical structure can be disposed on one or more features. A gradient in the features can correlate to a surface normal of the surface of the 3D object at the corresponding point. An orientation of the features can correlate to an orientation of the surface of the 3D object at the corresponding point.

A security device includes an array of lenses and a plurality of first and second segments disposed under the array of lenses. At a first viewing angle, the array of lenses presents a first image for viewing without presenting the second image for viewing, and at a second viewing angle different from the first viewing angle, the array of lenses presents for viewing the second image without presenting the first image for viewing. At least one first or second segment can include one or more microstructures or one or more nanostructures configured to produce one or more colors for the first or second image.

Optical switch devices

An optical product includes an array of lenses and first and second plurality of portions disposed under the array of lenses. Individual ones of the first plurality of portions can correspond to a point on a surface of a first 3D object, and include first non-holographic features configured to produce at least part of a first 3D image of the first 3D object. Individual ones of the second plurality of portions can correspond to a point on a surface of a second 3D object, and include second non-holographic features configured to produce at least part of a second 3D image of the second 3D object. The optical product can include an interference optical structure disposed with respect to the first and/or second non-holographic features.

An optical device includes an array of lenses and a plurality of first and second segments disposed under the array of lenses. At a first viewing angle, the array of lenses presents a first image for viewing without presenting the second image for viewing, and at a second viewing angle different from the first viewing angle, the array of lenses presents for viewing the second image without presenting the first image for viewing. In some examples, individual ones of the first and second segments can comprise specular reflecting, transparent, diffusely reflecting, and/or diffusely transmissive features. In some examples, individual ones of the first and second segments can comprise transparent and non-transparent regions. Some examples can incorporate more than one region producing an optical effect.

An optical device is formed by hot stamping a demetallized hologram to an optically variable foil or to a coating of optically variable ink. In another embodiment a hologram is hot stamped to a banknote or document printed with a color-shifting ink.

Optically variable security devices

A document, product, or package, such as a banknote, passport or the like comprises structures having dichroic effects that change color with viewing angle in both transmission and reflection. Such structures can be useful as security features that counter the ability to effectively use counterfeit documents, products, packages, etc.

Optical structures providing dichroic effects

Electrochromic window systems and components thereof are disclosed, more particularly systems where electrochromic devices are powered and/or controlled using photonic energy. In some instances, a laser is driven by a driver to deliver photonic power and/or control information into an optical fiber. The optical fiber carries the power and control information to a photovoltaic converter and a controller. The photovoltaic converter and controller may be included within an insulated glass unit (IGU). The photovoltaic converter converts the light energy into electrical energy used to power a transition in an optical state of an electrochromic layer or layers within the IGU. The controller may be used to control the power delivered to the electrochromic layer(s), such that a smooth transition occurs. In some embodiments, control information may be transmitted in an upstream manner to communicate information regarding, for example, the state of an electrochromic device.

Photonic-powered EC devices

An optical device includes an array of lenses and a plurality of segments disposed under the array of lenses. The plurality of segments corresponds to a plurality of images. Upon tilting the device at different viewing angle, the array of lenses presents images sequentially. In some examples, individual ones of the segments can comprise specular reflecting, transparent, diffusely reflecting, and/or diffusely transmissive features. In some examples, individual ones of the segments can comprise transparent and non-transparent regions. Some examples can incorporate more than one region producing an optical effect.
