Techniques are provided for access control in a system. A request is received for checking whether a subject has a privilege for a resource. A security class that defines a plurality of privileges that include the requested privilege is determined. One or more access control lists have been configured for the security class. The one or more access control lists comprise one or more access control entries. Each of the one more access control entry defines whether one or more subjects has been granted or denied to zero, one or more of the plurality of privileges defined in the security class. Based on the access control lists configured for the security class, it is determined whether the subject should be granted the privilege for the requested resource.

Access control model of function privileges for enterprise-wide applications

A system and method for policy based provisioning in a computing environment. In an example embodiment, the system is adapted to selectively allocate usage rights and access privileges to computing resources of a computing environment. The system includes a provisioning policy; a centralized resource provisioning module; one or more applications in communication with the centralized resource provisioning module; and software running on the resource provisioning module, wherein the software is adapted to initiate selective provisioning of computing resources offered by the one or more applications to a user in accordance with the provisioning policy.

Policy based provisioning in a computing environment

Techniques for implementing secure normal forms are provided. In one embodiment, in response to a request for data from a client, a database server is operable to enforce a column-level security policy that is defined for a particular column of some, but not necessarily all, rows of a table stored in a database. After retrieving a set of rows from the table and before returning a result set of rows to the client, the database server modifies the retrieved set of rows into the result set of rows by applying the security policy to each row of the retrieved set of rows, where applying the security policy to a row comprises: determining whether the security policy is satisfied for the particular column of that row; replacing, in the result set of rows, a data value in the particular column of that row with a security-NULL value when the security policy is not satisfied; and including the data value in the particular column of that row into the result set of rows when the security policy is satisfied. After generating the result set of rows, the database server returns the result set of rows to the client.
