A method and apparatus for obtaining location content from multiple networks is disclosed. The method may comprises: obtaining coarse location content at a wireless communication device (WCD) from a first network using a first protocol, wherein the coarse location content includes information defining locations of geographic coverage regions for one or more second networks which use a second protocol, obtaining WCD location information, determining from the WCD location information and the coarse location content if the WCD is within the geographic coverage region of a second network, accessing the determined second network using the second protocol, receiving from the accessed second network fine location content, and generating an integrated location content item by combining the coarse location content with the fine location content.

Systems and methods for selective wireless power transfer

A combination antenna and input device for a wireless communications device is disclosed. The antenna is coupled by a link to a position sensor that senses user movement of the antenna. In one embodiment, the antenna is rotatably retained within a housing and may be manipulated by the user. The position sensor detects rotational movement of the antenna and thereby controls functionality of the wireless communications device. The antenna may also be displaced along a longitudinal axis to enable user-selected functions. The position sensor may be mechanical, optical, or other form of electrical rotational position sensor.

Wireless communication device antenna input system and method of use

An antenna system for a communication device. A whip antenna is surrounded by a helical antenna. A switch couples the helical antenna to the signal source when the whip antenna is in a retracted position. The whip antenna is comprised of an upper conductive portion, a lower conductive portion, and a dielectric portion which isolates the upper and lower conductive portions from each other. A conductive sleeve member surrounds the whip antenna and is slidably mounted thereon. In a first embodiment, when the whip antenna is extended, the conductive sleeve member slides over the dielectric portion, coupling the upper and lower conductive portions together. As the whip antenna is retracted, the helical antenna pushes the conductive sleeve member to the top end of the whip antenna, isolating the whip antenna from the helical antenna. In a second embodiment, the helical antenna is an integral part of the conductive sleeve member.
