A Radio Base Station (RBS) and a method performed by the RBS comprises receiving a frame Ffrom a network node, the frame having a sequence number N. If the last received frame F, prior to the received frame F, has a sequence number lower than N&#x2212;1, then starting a first timer Thaving a predefined length in time and temporarily storing the received frame F. If a subsequent frame Fhaving a sequence number lower than N and higher than the sequence number of frame Fis received, then the received frame Fis stored. When all frames having a sequence number between the sequence number of frame Fand N have been received during the predefined length of the first timer T, then forwarding the stored frames and/or received frames to the UE in the order of the sequence numbers.

RBS, RNC and respective methods performed thereby for transmitting data to a UE

The embodiments herein relate to a method in a centralized baseband unit (CBU) for generating a common UL-TPC stream in a network. The CBU is connected to a plurality of RRUs. Each RRU is connected to a UE via a respective RLS of a plurality of RLSs. Each respective RLS comprises at least one radio link. The CBU receives, from each RRU a stream of uplink power samples measured for each RRU on the at least one radio link comprised in each respective RLS between the UE and the plurality of RRUs. The CBU generates the common UL-TPC stream based on the received measurements of uplink power. The common UL-TPC stream is to be sent to each RRU for further transmission to the UE.

Uplink power control

There is provided a method in a first base (Node_B_S) station adapted to receive media access control layer packet data units (MAC-d; PDU) from a radio network controller (RNC) relating to at least a traffic flow relating to a given user entity (UE_Q) and forwarding (MAC-hs/MAC-ehs) such packet data units to said user entity. The transmission to the given user entity is adapted to be potentially handed over to at least a second radio base station (Node B_T), the method being characterized in the following steps:&#x2014;the first base station (Node_B_S) continuously updating () at least a data structure (UNACK_MACD_CNT) relating to media access control layer packet data units (MAC-d PDU's) of a priority queue of the user entity, which packet data units are recently transmitted from a protocol layer (RLC) in the radio network controller (RNC RLC) whereby at least some of said packet data units may not be received by a corresponding protocol layer (RLC) in the user entity (UE_Q) yet,&#x2014;the first base station, upon receiving a predetermined signal (UNACK_MACD_REQ ()) from the radio network controller requesting the data structure, transmitting () a current value of said data structure (UNACK_MACD_CNT) to the radio network controller (RNC). Also, a method for a radio network controller is provided and corresponding entities.

Apparatus and method for improved handover performance

A method and apparatus is provided for performing normal reordering or timer based stall avoidance or window based stall avoidance, for instance for a 3GPP HSPDA compliant user entity; the method furthermore comprising the steps of deriving an accumulated quality measure pertaining to the packet data being communicated from the transmitter entity to the receiver entity; comparing the accumulated quality measure with a predetermined threshold value; if the accumulated quality measure meets predefined criteria, moving the window corresponding to the highest received value forward to a position corresponding to the received sequence number; and setting the next expected value in the receiver window forward to a position corresponding to a rear position of the window determined by the window size.

Enhanced recovery procedure

The present invention relates to a base station arrangement () in a communications system supporting high speed packet data communication, comprising a base station protocol entity for a protocol handling high speed control signalling and physical resource allocation for high speed data communication, quality handling means () adapted to receive and handle channel condition related information from mobile user stations, encoding means for encoding data packets to be transmitted to mobile user station, and transmission control means comprising a scheduling means () communicating with a hybrid automatic retransmission system (HARQ) () and being adapted to control transmission of data packets using said channel condition related information and data packet buffering means (). The base station protocol entity further comprises a control plane entity supporting an extended control plane for control plane signalling messages comprising specific control messages handling means (), adapted to provide a specific probing or information control message and to send said message to a mobile user station.

Arrangement and method for extended control plane signalling in a high speed packet data communication

The invention relates to a wireless telecommunication system for voice and data packet transmission. The system comprises a transmitting unit for transmitting voice and data packets to a receiving unit. The transmitting unit comprises a first discard timer set for a first time period and arranged to start when a first data packet is transmitted from the transmitting unit. The transmitting unit is arranged to suspend the first discard timer when a second power is lower than or equal to a selected second threshold level.

Timer handling in a transmitter in a telecommunication system for voice and data packet transmission

A method and apparatus for a base station engaging in transmissions via at least a media access layer with a user entity are disclosed. The base station transmits data to the user entity over a high speed scheduling and packet data scheduling channels. The base station has a plurality of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) entities cooperating with a scheduler for transmitting frames from at least the base station to the user entity for a given HARQ process. Each HARQ entity receives either a not acknowledge or an acknowledge signal or detects a discontinuous transmission for a given HARQ process. The base station transmits a next data indicator to the user entity. The user entity has at least one buffer associated with a given HARQ process. The buffer stores and performs incremental combining of received data relating to data from the base station. The buffer is capable of being flushed.

Next data indicator handling

A method is provided for a base station set (NODE B) adapted for RLC and MAC-hs signaling in acknowledged mode (AM), the base station set at least forwarding protocol data units (MAC-d PDU) from a Radio Network controller (RNC) to a user entity (UE), the method comprising the steps of monitoring () the MAC layer of the transmission entity of the base station set (), if a MAC discard has occurred in the MAC layer (), that is, protocol data units (PDU's) have been deleted in the input buffer of the base station set (NODE B), transmitting () a discard notification message from the MAC transmission entity in the base station set to the RLC layer of the radio network controller (RNC), indicative of the discarding of protocol data units. There is moreover provided a method for a radio network controller (RNC) adapted for RLC and MAC-hs signaling in acknowledged mode (AM) and a method for a user entity (UE) adapted for RLC and MAC-hs signaling.
