A method of inhibiting deposit formation in a jet fuel at temperatures above 150&#xb0; C., whilst not substantially adversely affecting the water separability of the jet fuel. The method includes the step of adding at least one copolymer, terpolymer or polymer of an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or a derivative thereof to the jet fuel; wherein the copolymer, terpolymer or polymer of an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or derivative thereof is copolymerized with a nitrogen-containing, amine-containing or amide-containing monomer; or the copolymer, terpolymer or polymer of an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or derivative thereof includes nitrogen-containing, amine-containing or amide-containing branches.

Method of inhibiting deposit formation in a jet fuel at high temperatures

A crankcase lubricating oil composition comprises an oil of lubricating viscosity, in a major amount, and, in respective minor amounts, a boron-containing additive and one or more co-additives, wherein the lubricating oil composition has greater than 200 ppm by mass of boron, less than 600 ppm by mass of phosphorus and less than 4000 ppm by mass of sulfur, based on the mass of the oil composition. Such compositions demonstrate provide improved wear performance.

Lubricating oil compositions

A lubricating oil composition having less than 0.2 wt. % sulfur, less than 50 ppm chlorine, less than 50 ppm phosphorus, a NOACK volatility of 15 wt. % or less comprising an organo-molybdenum compound, an overbased calcium or magnesium salicylate, a dispersant and a supplemental antioxidant.
