A thermoplastic polymer composition includes a polyolefin polymer, silica; a phosphorus-containing antioxidant compound; and a co-additive that includes one or more of (i) a polyalkylene glycol having a number average molecular weight of greater than or equal to 3,000, (ii) a polyalkylene oxide, (iii) a sterically hindered amine compound.

Stabilized thermoplastic polymer composition

Thermoplastic resin composition are provided that comprise a thermoplastic resin or mixture thereof and a stabilizing amount of an aromatic ketone compound, derivative of an aromatic ketone compound, or an adduct of an aromatic ketone compound, optionally containing a stabilizing amount of a stabilizer or mixture of stabilizers selected from the group consisting of the phenolic antioxidants, the 3-arylbenzofuranones, the hindered amine stabilizers, the ultraviolet light absorbers, the organic phosphorus compounds, the alkaline metal salts of fatty acids, the hydrotalcites, the epoxydized soybean oils, the hydroxylamines, the tertiary amine oxides, thermal reaction products of tertiary amine oxides, and the thiosynergists. The compositions have improved stability against thermal degradation.

Stabilized thermoplastic compositions

Thermoplastic compositions are provided containing a saturated hydrocarbon amine oxide and stabilizer compositions are provided containing a saturated hydrocarbon amine oxide and a second stabilizer. The thermoplastic compositions exhibit good melt flow rate stability during processing and are useful for making molded and extruded articles. The stabilizer compositions are useful for addition to thermoplastics for the stabilization thereof. A method is also provided for stabilizing thermoplastic compositions and involves admixing a hydrocarbon amine oxide with a thermoplastic resin. The saturated hydrocarbon amine oxides are preferably trialkyl amine oxides. The thermoplastic resin is preferably a polyolefin resin.

Polymer compositions containing hydrocarbon amine oxides and hydrocarbon

Melt extrusion processes involving phosphite stabilized polyolefin compositions subject to solid by-product formation during melt extrusion are improved by the addition of a metal salt of a lactic acid to the composition. The processes involving the improved compositions exhibit reduced levels of screen pack plugging during fiber and film extrusion processes than that achieved with fatty acid salts, such as calcium stearate.

Processing stabilizer formulations

Thermoplastic resin composition are provided that comprise a thermoplastic resin or mixture thereof, a stabilizing amount of a stabilizer or mixture of stabilizers selected from the group consisting of the phenolic antioxidants, the 3-arylbenzofuranones, the hindered amine stabilizers, the ultraviolet light absorbers, the organic phosphorus compounds, the alkaline metal salts of fatty acids, the hydroxylamines, and the thiosynergists, and a stabilizing amount of a tertiary amine oxide. The compositions have improved stability against discoloration upon exposure to heating or to the combustion products of natural gas by the concomitant presence of an effective amount of a tertiary amine oxide.

An elastomer composition includes a vinyl aromatic-conjugated diene block copolymer; and a high rubber graft copolymer and a thermoplastic resin composition includes a thermoplastic resin modified with the elastomer composition.

Elastomer composition and thermoplastic resin composition modified

A thermoplastic elastomeric composition is provided exhibiting reduced levels of hardness and enhanced levels of elongation. The composition contains a chlorinated polyolefin and graft copolymer having a rubber substrate present at a level of 65 to 90 percent by weight based on the total weight of the graft copolymer. Preferably the graft copolymer is an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene graft copolymer and preferably the chlorinated polyolefin is a chlorinated polyethylene having a high molecular weight and a relatively low chlorine level. The composition is useful for making molded articles such as interior automotive components requiring high elongation and tear resistance, reduced hardness and often high strain recovery.

Aromatic cyclic bisphosphite esters and polymeric compositions thereof

An organic phosphite composition is provided comprising organic phosphite particles having organic phosphite cores coated with an aminofunctional organic polysiloxane. Blends of the phosphite and the aminofunctional organic polysiloxane are also provided. The phosphite particles exhibit high levels of resistance to hydrolysis and are useful as antioxidant additives for thermoplastic compositions.

Amino silicone/phosphite compositions

An organic phosphite composition is provided comprising organic phosphite particles having organic phosphite cores coated with an organic hydrogen polysiloxane. The phosphite particles exhibit high levels of resistance to hydrolysis and are useful as antioxidant additives for thermoplastic compositions.

Articles having acceptable levels of impact strength and physical integrity are provided from mixed scrap plastics by a wet dispersion process. Immiscible plastic particles are locked together by a network of chopped fibers to form a useful article derived from mixed scrap plastics.

Articles from mixed scrap plastics

A thermally stable polyphenylene ether composition having long glass fibers of at least 4 mm length incorporated therein. A suitable high temperature binder such as polyethyloxazoline may be included in the composition, as well as a flame retardant additive or other filler.
