A power tool comprising a housing displaceably mounted to a foot plate, a blade, a motor, an electric switch and an interlock for controlling movement of the housing with respect to the foot plate. The interlock has a control button mounted to one of the housing or foot plate which cooperates with a channel fixed in relation to the other of the housing or foot plate. The control button can select between a plunge cut mode wherein the blade can protrude below the foot plate, or a blade change mode wherein the blade is prepared for a blade change operation. The channel comprises a major leg in communication with a minor leg. Cooperation between the button and the major leg selects the plunge cut mode. Cooperation between the button and the minor leg selects the blade change mode. The interlock may also comprise a housing lock and a spindle lock.

Power tool

The present invention provides an anti-kickback for arresting movement of a rail accommodated within an elongate channel. The anti-kickback device includes a slide member arranged to slide along a slide surface between an extended position and a retracted position. The device further includes a resilient member, housed in a sleeve, which biases the slide member along the slide surface. The slide member, when in the extended position, is designed to urge the rail into abutment with a wall of the channel to arrest movement of the rail accommodated within the channel.

Anti-kickback device

A footplate for a power tool for guiding the tool along a guide, the footplate having on its lower surface at least one dual-restriction , wherein the first part of the dual-restriction is for engaging a rail extending in a longitudinal direction of a first guide on the upper surface of said first guide and the second part of the dual-restriction is for engaging a rail extending in a longitudinal direction of a second different guide on the upper surface of said second guide, where the first and second parts of the or each dual-restriction each has a fixed side wall, and where the first and second parts of the or each dual-restriction have an adjustable side wall arranged opposite to a respective fixed side wall.

Footplate

A planer comprising: a body; the body including a wall and the wall defining a recess; a cutting drum rotatably mounted within the recess, the cutting action of the drum creating debris and ejecting it from the recess; an airflow generator for producing an airflow; a conduit defined within the body for directing the airflow, the conduit connected to the recess for entraining and removing the debris ejected from the recess; a deflector connectable to the conduit for guiding the air flow and entrained debris from within the body to outside of the body, the deflector having an interior and exterior; and wherein the conduit directs the airflow from the airflow generator, over the exterior of the deflector, then downward to the vicinity of the recess where debris is entrained by the airflow, and then to the deflector before it is guided by the deflector to outside of the body.

Debris collection system for a planer

A planer comprising: a body defining an exhaust aperture and including a wall, the wall defining a recess, a cutting drum rotatably mounted within the recess, a motor mounted within the body to rotatingly drive the cutting drum, the cutting action of the drum causing debris to be ejected from the recess; an airflow generator for producing an airflow within the body; a conduit defined within the body for directing the airflow, the conduit in communication with the exhaust aperture and connected to the recess for entraining and removing debris ejected from the recess; and a removable deflector having an inner end and an outer end, the deflector insertable through the exhaust aperture and connectable to the conduit for guiding the air flow and debris to outside of the body, and wherein the deflector is insertable at a downward slope from the outer end to the inner end.

A debris collection container for a planer comprising a receptacle for storage of debris generated by a planer and a connector which connects the receptacle to a planer and through which debris can pass from the a planer to the receptacle, wherein the receptacle is provided an aperture through which the debris within the container can be removed, which aperture is sealed by cap, said cap releasably attachable to the receptacle by a bayonet type connector.

A planer assembly consisting of a planer and a debris collection container, the debris collection container comprising a receptacle for storage of debris generated by a planer during its planing action and a connector which connects the receptacle to a planer and through which debris can pass from the a planer to the receptacle during use wherein there is provided at least one transparent window in the connector and/or the receptacle.

A debris collection container for a planer comprising a receptacle for storage of debris generated by a planer during its planing action and a connector which connects the receptacle to a planer and through which debris can pass from the a planer to the receptacle during use wherein the receptacle comprises at least one resiliently deformable section which can be held compressed for reduce the size of the receptacle or released to allow deformable section to expand The receptacle comprises a first rigid section, a second rigid section connected to the first rigid section via a third resiliently deformable section wherein the first section can be releasably attached to the second section when the third section is compressed.

A debris collection container for a planer comprising a receptacle for storage of debris generated by a planer during its planing action and a connector which connects the receptacle to a planer and through which debris can pass from the a planer to the receptacle during use wherein the connector connects to the receptacle via a part spherical shaped section which curves the direction of travel of any air or debris entrained within it as it passes through the part spherical section. The part spherical section curves any airflow and any entrained debris through ninety degrees.

A planer comprising; a body including a wall and the wall defining a recess and an expulsion aperture, a cutting drum rotatably mounted within the recess, the cutting action of the drum causing debris to be ejected from the recess through the expulsion aperture; an airflow generator for producing an airflow within the body; a conduit defined within the body for directing the airflow, the conduit connected to the recess by the expulsion aperture; and wherein the debris entering the conduit through the expulsion aperture travels substantially in a first direction, and the airflow through the conduit adjacent to the expulsion aperture travels substantially in a second direction, and the first direction of the debris and the second direction of the airflow intersect at an acute angle.

A garden power tool system comprises a lawn mower powered by a battery mounted on the mower and a plurality of electrically powered gardening implements such as a hedge trimmer and a string trimmer. The battery provides the electrical power for the garden implements when they are connected to the mower. The mower can be mounted on castor wheels. Ideally, the garden implements are releasably attachable via a connecting mechanism and an electric cable to the mower. The connecting mechanism provides electrical connection between the battery and the garden implements when attached and is sufficiently robust to enable the mower to be dragged around by the garden implement when connected.

Lawn mower for providing power to a garden implement

A battery powered lawn mower includes a cutting deck ; an electric motor mounted on the deck ; a battery mounted on the deck which is in electrical connection with the motor ; and a switch mounted on the deck . The switch is disposed closely adjacent both the battery and the motor and is between the battery and motor in the electrical circuit. The switch is linked by a cable to a lever mounted on the mower handle which controls the switch so as to be in one of two positions. In the first position the switch links the motor and battery so as operate the motor. In the second position, the switch links the two terminals of the motor so as to create regenerative braking within the motor.

A lawn mower having a deck; wheel assemblies; height adjustment mechanisms positioned intermediate the deck and wheel assemblies; an interconnecting bar positioned between at least two of the height adjustment mechanisms, the interconnecting bar being connected to the height adjustment mechanisms to transfer the movement of one height adjustment mechanism to the other height adjustment mechanism so that the height adjustment mechanisms operate in unison; a rack located on the interconnecting bar; a locking mechanism attached with the rack to hold the interconnecting bar stationary relative to the deck, the locking mechanism including a pinion rotatably mounted on the deck, the pinion meshing with the rack to releasably lock the locking mechanism in a plurality of positions.

A lawn mower comprises a cutting deck 2 mounted on at least first and second wheel assemblies. The first and second wheel assemblies comprise, respectively, first and second height adjustment mechanisms 22. The first height adjustment mechanism 22 comprises a first pivoting mechanism 22 pivotal about a first axis for adjustment of the height of the deck above the first wheel assembly. The second height adjustment 22 mechanism comprises a second pivoting mechanism 22 pivotal about a second axis, parallel to the first axis, for adjustment of the height of the deck above the second wheel assembly. A connection or bar 38 is formed between the first and second pivoting mechanisms for pivoting the first and second pivoting mechanisms in opposite directions about the first and second axis, respectively. Each of the pivoting mechanisms 22 raise the height of the deck 2 by substantially equal mounts when pivoted through any part of their full range of pivotal movement.
