The present invention provides nucleotide and amino acid sequences that identify and encode novel expressed chemokines (PANEC-1 and PANEC-2) from human pancreas cells. The present invention provides a polynucleotide (hjak2) which identifies and encodes a novel human Jak2 kinase (HJAK2) which was expressed in the placenta.
