Examples disclosed herein relate to a device management request from a remote management service. Examples include receipt of a device management from a remote management service through a firewall in a first device. The first device to provide the device management request to a second device via a local network and to receive a device management response from the second device. The first device to provide the device management response to the remote management service.

Receive device management request through firewall

A source generates a request to receive a document. A determination is made regarding an authorization level associated with the source of the request. Another determination is made as to an authorization level required to view the requested document. If the source of the request is authorized to receive the requested document, the requested document is transmitted to the source of the request. If the source of the request is not authorized to receive the requested document, the unauthorized portions of the requested document are redacted and the redacted version of the requested document is transmitted to the source of the request.

Controlling the distribution of information

Representative embodiments provide for a data handling system including a remote entity and a local entity coupled in data communication with the remote entity. The local entity is configured to wait for a predefined interval of time, retrieve a quantity of data from the remote entity after the predefined interval of time, and redefine the interval of time in accordance with a predefined function. A method of retrieving data includes waiting for a predefined interval of time, retrieving a quantity of data from a remote entity after the predefined interval of time, and redefining the interval of time in accordance with a predefined function.

Methods and apparatus for data retrieval

The system and methods described herein relate to printing usage information for managed printing devices in a uniform manner on customized self-test pages and using the customized self-test pages for automatic data entry of the usage information. A formatting device accesses and formats usage information from a printing device and creates a print job containing the formatted usage information in a customized self-test page. Formatted usage information printed on a customized self-test page is readily scanned and optically recognized for automatic entry into an accounting system. Automatic entry of usage information reduces labor hours and costs associated with managing fleets of printing devices.

System and methods for creating and using customized self-test pages

A method for undercolor removal (UCR) from a multi-color image represented by N color planes of non-black pixel image color values and replacement of removed undercolor by black values, includes the following steps. A corrected black color plane is obtained by replacing initial maximum black color values with black color values that are a Min function between the initial black color values and N-1 logically corresponding non-black pixel image color values. Page strip portions of the corrected black color plane are then revised so that each pixel black color value thereof is converted to a UCR value by deriving the Min function with logically corresponding, Nth color plane non-black pixel image color values. Next, logically corresponding UCR values for each page strip are subtracted from Nth color plane non-black pixel image color values and each page strip from the Nth color plane is passed to a print engine for rendering. Next, logically corresponding UCR values for each page strip are subtracted from the remaining ones of the N-1 color plane non-black pixel image color values. The N-1 color plane page strips are then fed to the print engine. The UCR values from the black color plane are then used for GCR.
