A method for searching data includes storing a probe data and a target data expressed in a first orthogonal domain. The target data includes potential probe match data each characterized by the length of the target data. The probe data representation and the target data are transformed into an orthogonal domain. In the orthogonal domain, the target data is encoded with modulation functions to produce a plurality of encoded target data, each of the modulation functions having a position index corresponding to one of the potential probe match data. The plurality of encoded target data is interfered with the probe data in the orthogonal domain and an inverse transform result is obtained. If the inverse transform result exceeds a threshold, information is output indicating a match between the probe data and a corresponding one of the potential probe match data.

Multidimensional associative memory and data searching

A method for searching sequences includes storing a probe sequence and a target sequence expressed in a first orthogonal domain. The target sequence includes potential probe match sequences each characterized by the length of the target sequence. The probe sequence representation and the target sequence are transformed into an orthogonal domain. In the orthogonal domain, the target sequence is encoded with modulation functions to produce a plurality of encoded target sequences, each of the modulation functions having a position index corresponding to one of the potential probe match sequences. The plurality of encoded target sequences is interfered with the probe sequence in the orthogonal domain and an inverse transform result is obtained. If the inverse transform result exceeds a threshold, information is output indicating a match between the probe sequence and a corresponding one of the potential probe match sequences.

Associative memory and data searching system and method

A method for searching a database () with stored information using parallel searching of superposition representations of the information. In one approach, the method involves searching a target DNA or RNA genome () sequence to determine whether a match is present between a sequence probe and the target. The method includes encoding the target sequence as superpositions of wavefunctions, encoding the probe as one or more wavefunctions, and comparing the encoded target with the encoded probe. The encoding of the target may involve applying a transform (e.g., discrete Fourier transform) to the target sequence to obtain the wavefunctions used to form the one or more superposition representations.

A method for time scale modification of a digital audio signal produces an output signal that is at a different playback rate, but at the same pitch, as the input signal. The method is an improved version of the synchronized overlap-and-add (SOLA) method, and overlaps sample blocks in the input signal with sample blocks in the output signal in order to compress the signal. Samples are overlapped at a location that produces the best possible output quality. A correlation function is calculated for each possible overlap lag, and the location producing the highest value of the function is chosen. The range of possible overlap lags is equal to the sum of the size of the two sample blocks. A computationally efficient method for calculating the correlation function computes a discrete frequency transform of the input and output sample blocks, calculates the correlation, and then performs an inverse frequency transform of the correlation function, which has a maximum at the optimal lag. Also provided is a method for time scale modification of a multi-channel digital audio signal, in which each channel is processed independently. The listener integrates the different channels, and perceives a high quality multi-channel signal.
