Generating personalized user interfaces includes receiving an indication of a user device in a proximity of an image forming device. Based on the user device, a system can determine a prediction of intent to use the image forming device by a user account associated with the user device and in response to determining the prediction is greater than a threshold, instructing the image forming device to provide an indicator corresponding to the user account.

A method comprises receiving, at a server from a communications-enabled device that includes processing circuitry, a request for providing a user session correlated with a user identifier (ID) and a target appliance. The method further includes in response to the request for the requested user session: retrieving a user attribute from a user-ID database that stores user ID information for a plurality of user accounts, and retrieving an appliance attribute from an appliance-ID database that stores appliance ID information; and correlating the retrieved user attribute and appliance attribute with the requested user session for a user account from among the plurality of user accounts. The method further includes transferring the requested user session to the target appliance as a new user session that is spatial-temporal limited and that is without the target appliance using user login information.

Spatial-temporal limited user sessions

An example imaging device includes a communication engine to transmit a broadcast message including a broadcast ID corresponding to the imaging device. The communication engine further is to receive a session token from a central server in response to a request for accessing the imaging device received from a user device in receipt of the broadcast ID. The session token is to connect the imaging device to a user session corresponding to a user of the user device. The imaging device further comprises a user authorization engine to obtain preliminary user details from the central server using the session token. The preliminary user details include a login ID and a user-selected authentication mode. The user authorization engine is to set-up a user login session using the preliminary user details for receiving user authentication approval from the central server to allow the user to access the imaging device.

Example implementations relate to updating firmware. For example, a system according to the present disclosure may include a printing device and a computing device. The printing device may be on a network. The printing device may detect an intrusion against the printing device. The computing device may be on the network. The computing device may receive a broadcast reporting the intrusion directly from the printing device. The computing device may request, responsive to receiving the broadcast, an updated portion of a firmware code image for the computing device.

For example, detecting document objects may include a system comprising a pre-processing engine to establish a threshold for a document, wherein a structure of the document is unknown, a detection engine to detect a candidate area in the document, using a Hough transform and connected component analysis to merge detected candidate areas in the Hough transform to a same document object in the document, and a classification module to classify the candidate area as a document object or not a document object.

The generation and usage of workflows for processing data on a printing device includes receiving a request to create a workflow for a printing device. One or more operations that may be included in the workflow are displayed, and user-selection of at least one of the one or more operations is received. The user-selected operations are added to the workflow, and a user-selection of an order in which multiple ones of the user-selected operations are to be performed is received. When the creation of the workflow is completed, an indication of such is received and the workflow is saved. According to another aspect, a request to process data is received, the appropriate workflow identified, and the data processed by performing the operations in the sequence in an order identified by the sequence.

Generation and usage of workflows for processing data on a printing device

A system and method are provided in a host and in a peripheral for providing network access to a web server in the peripheral device, where the peripheral device is locally coupled to the host. The web server in the peripheral includes web pages that provide access to the control functions of the peripheral. Users may access the control functions of the peripheral through the use of a browser, thereby avoiding the need for special control access software. In one embodiment, the system includes a processor coupled to a local interface and a memory coupled to the local interface. The system also includes listener logic stored on the memory and executable by the processor. The listener logic comprises logic to identify a request from a client received by the host via a network to be forwarded to the web server located on the peripheral device locally coupled to the host, logic to forward the request to the web server on the peripheral device, and logic to transmit a response received from the web server to the client.

System and method for linking a web server in a peripheral to a network through a host

Systems and methods for automatically converting data received from a remote device are described. A representative data conversion system includes at least a first remote device. The system also includes a conversion device communicatively coupled to at least the first remote device. The conversion device is configured to receive information from at least the first remote device, wherein the information is configured to enable conversion of data from a first format to a second format.
