A system for dental restorations may comprise an abutment comprising an implant engaging portion and a component supporting portion terminating in a coronal end of the abutment. The implant engaging portion may extend apically from the component supporting portion and may have an external surface feature configured to be received in mating engagement within an opening in a dental implant. The component supporting portion may comprise at least one first snap-fit retention feature disposed on an outer peripheral surface of the component supporting portion. The system may further comprise a temporary coping made from a material that permits chemical bonding of the temporary coping with a veneering material of a temporary tooth restoration. The temporary coping may comprise at least one second snap-fit retention feature configured for snap-fit engagement with the at least one first snap-fit retention feature of the abutment.

Components for use with implants and related methods

A transfer coping configured to take an impression of an implant is disclosed. The transfer coping has an impression material contact portion and an implant mating portion configured to be received within an opening on a coronal portion of the implant. The implant mating portion has at least one support portion and at least one deflection portion. The at least one support portion and the at least one deflection portion are separated from one another by grooves disposed therebetween. The at least one protrusion is disposed on the at least one deflection portion and is configured to engage in a snap-fit manner with a coordinating feature of an implant to maintain engagement of the transfer coping with the implant to take an impression. A method for taking an impression of an implant is also disclosed.

Transfer copings and related methods for taking implant impressions

A drill bit for drilling through bone is disclosed. The drill bit comprises an elongated fluted portion that terminates in an end face that is oriented substantially transverse to a longitudinal axis of the fluted portion. The drill bit further comprises a trocar tip protruding from the end face of the fluted portion. The trocar tip comprises a base and terminates in a pointed end. The end face of the fluted portion extends radially beyond and surrounds the base of the trocar tip.

Trocar-tipped drill bit

A drill bit comprising a trocar tip on an end of a fluted portion is disclosed. The trocar tip may configured to cut through relatively hard bone. The drill bit may also have a fluted portion for cutting through softer bone.

A transfer coping configured to take an impression of an implant is disclosed. The transfer coping has an impression material contact portion and an implant mating portion. The implant mating portion has at least one support portion and at least one deflection portion configured to be received within an opening on a coronal portion of an implant. The at least one protrusion is disposed on the at least one deflection portion and is configured to engage in a snap-fit manner with a coordinating feature of an implant. A method for identifying the position of an implant in a patient is also disclosed.
