A collecting device for forming a printed product includes a conveyor and a plurality of printed material delivery devices, the plurality of printed material delivery devices including a first delivery device for first printed materials and a second delivery device for second printed materials. A first transfer device is assigned to the first delivery device and delivering the first printed materials to the conveyor and a second transfer device assigned to the second delivery device and delivering the second printed materials to be collected with the first printed materials on the conveyor. Each of the first and second transfer devices have printed material buffer positions between the respective first and second delivery devices and the conveyor, which permit advantageous reduction in the amount of waste.

A gathering device for forming a plurality of printed products includes a transfer device having a plurality of grippers. A first sheet material feeder delivers first sheet material to the plurality of grippers and a second sheet material feeder delivers second sheet material to the plurality of grippers, the second sheet material feeder being downstream of the first sheet material feeder. A folder for processing a stream of printed signatures from a printing press and related method. The signatures have a desired path with a path edge and each signature has a lead and trail edge. The folder comprises a plurality of sensor sets, each sensor set for determining if the lead and/or trail edge of the signature deviates from the path edge by more than a certain tolerance.

A printing unit with a rotatable print cylinder and a rotatable blanket cylinder is provided. A tubular printing blanket is removably mounted on the blanket cylinder. The printing unit may have an imaging unit mounted therein. A printing member, which is mountable on the print cylinder, is imaged by the imaging unit inside the printing unit. The printing member has a continuous surface and may be removed axially from the print cylinder. The printing unit may be configured as a cantilever printing unit, or, alternatively, may be configured with both a gear side frame and a work side frame for supporting the print and blanket cylinders. In order to provide a variable-cutoff capability, a plurality of print cylinder saddles may be provided. Each print cylinder saddle has the same inner diameter for mounting on the print cylinders. However, in order to provide a variable cut-off, the print cylinder saddles may have a variety of outer diameters.

The present invention is related to a product cutting device for flat material, such as sheets, webs of material or the like. A product folding cylinder rotates about an axis of rotation and has a surface for supporting the incoming material to be cut. A cutting cylinder cooperates with the product folding cylinder and has knife assemblies mounted thereon. Cyclically engageable product seizing elements are assigned to at least one of the product folding cylinder and the cutting cylinder, and are moveable opposite to a sense of rotation of the product folding cylinder. The product seizing elements engage a respective next product's front portion after the cutting operation is terminated.

A first surface of each fan wheel pocket is configured to cause the signature to take on an energy dissipating state.

A diverter mechanism for signatures in a folding apparatus is provided including a set of high-speed tapes (3) for conveying signatures in a conveying plane (1) toward delivery stations (12, 13). A printing press including at least one impression cylinder, at least one plate cylinder, a pair of swivel arms corresponding to each plate cylinder and pivotal about a central axis of the plate cylinder, and a transfer cylinder corresponding to each plate cylinder and supported by the pair of swivel arms is disclosed. The swivel arms can be pivoted, so that each transfer cylinder can be moved between a printing position where the transfer cylinder is engaged with the running web and a non-printing position where the transfer cylinder is disengaged from the running web. The transfer cylinders of the present invention also can be commonly adjusted to vary the pressure against a running web.

A folder delivery apparatus for single or multiple-stream production includes several delivery systems which are operable in parallel and can be driven independently of one another. During operation of the folder as well as during machine standstill, the delivery systems can be simultaneously shifted automatically or manually through adjustment units, in such a way that while adjustment takes place, the distance between the delivery systems can be set as desired within a minimal and a maximal setting position.
