A present novel and non-trivial system, device, and method for presenting flight information of a plurality of aircraft on a display unit. An image generator ('IG') is programmed to receive a first request for flight information for one of a plurality of aircraft; receive first flight information of a viewer aircraft when included in the request; send a second request for second flight information of a target aircraft for each target aircraft included in the request; receive the second flight information; retrieve terrain data corresponding the flight information of a focal aircraft; generate an image data set representative of a three-dimensional scene of a selectable view comprised of the sky, the spherical surface of the Earth, a first aircraft symbol corresponding to the received flight information, and a first curved flight path; and provide the image data set to a display unit.

In a player/recorder system, a graphical user interface method allows central control of one or more tracks of a plurality of audio processing modules. The plurality of audio processing modules are connected to a computer system having a processor and a display. The method includes the steps of generating a first display portion on the display by the processor, the first display portion including one or more control boxes to control a corresponding one or more tracks of the plurality of audio processing modules and generating a second display portion on the display by the processor, the second display including a central control mechanism for controlling all of the one or more tracks of the audio processing modules.

Method and apparatus for providing a graphical user interface for a player/recorder system

A method and system for providing enhanced editing capability of media data. Media data arriving in a continuous stream is saved in a buffer. When a user enters record mode, some data received before record mode was entered is designated for permanent storage. Similarly, all data received while in record mode is designated for permanent storage. Once the user leaves record mode, additional data received after leaving record mode is also designated for permanent storage. In due course all data designated for permanent storage is stored to a mass storage device. Any data in the buffer not designated for permanent storage will be overwritten without being stored to the mass storage device. In this manner, a media file having record handles is created. The record handles permit a user to slide the nominal entry and exit from record mode to accommodate timing and synchronization errors.

Method and system for providing enhanced editing capabilities

Late audio buffer processing for intelligently muting audio output when audio buffers are not read fast enough from disk into digital signal processing (DSP) memory. Given a playback audio recorder, each channel of audio is associated with a forward and a reverse late threshold signals which are enabled when the processing of an audio buffer for that channel is delayed. When an audio buffer for that channel is delayed, the late threshold signal sets in motion the muting of that specific audio channel for a predetermined amount of time. If and when the system catches up, normal playback resumes. Otherwise, the channel stays muted.

A method of recording data, including audio data and control data, to a SCSI drive having both a write mode and a write-verify mode, comprises the steps of initializing the drive to a write mode, receiving recording data and organizing the recording data into SCSI request blocks (SRBs), and checking each SRB to see if it contains a write block. If the SRB includes either no write block or is audio data, then the SRB is recorded by the drive. However, if the SRB includes a write block and no audio data, then the SRB is converted from a write block to a write-verify block and recorded by the drive.

The system comprises a plurality of stations containing the digitized audio/video data and an editing station located remotely from the plurality of stations and coupled in communication with the plurality of stations via a network. The editing station may also include a graphical interface and accept input via the graphical interface wherein the input specifies edit functions to be performed on the digitized audio/video data residing on the plurality of audio stations.

A system and method for playing and recording digital media such as digital audio. The system allows for seamless punch-out (exiting record mode) during a recording session by continuing to transfer playback data for a sequence from the mass storage to a buffer simultaneous with transferring record data for the sequence into the buffer and the mass storage. This allows the user to seamlessly switch between record mode and playback mode, presenting only a negligible (if any) delay between the time the user requests punch-out and the time the user experiences the correct original playback data. In a preferred embodiment, the invention is implemented as a digital audio playing and recording system providing seamless punch-out for multiple channels of digital audio using RAM buffers and rotating magnetic disk devices for storing the digital audio.

The present invention discloses a method for organizing audio events recorded on a storage medium to facilitate efficient storage and fast access. The method comprises the steps of: (1) maintaining attributes of the audio events in a list; (2) determining if a subset of the audio events causes a medium fragmentation based on the attributes, the subset including originally sequential audio segments; (3) if the medium fragmentation occurs, copying the subset of said audio events from the storage medium into a buffer memory of a predetermined size; and (4) copying the buffer memory onto the storage medium.

System and method of organizing and defragmenting audio events recorded

A system for sub-allocating space within a logical block in a disk-based file system is described. Each disk block is subdivided into an integer number of smaller sub-blocks. One or more of the sub-blocks may contain data samples. Associated with each block is a variable which indicates which sub-block within the block contains data which have been read from disk to memory. When an application performs a read operation, the variable is first checked to determine whether the data sample to be read is already in memory. If the data sample is in memory, no disk read operation for that data is required.
