Hot-fillable, blow molded, wide-mouth plastic containers having a pair of flex panels ( ) for accommodating thermally induced volumetric and pressure variations while affording easy contents scoopability, and desirable labeling features. The containers are capable of being blow-molded from injection molded preforms or from extruded parisons. The containers may be hot-filled and retorted. A handle which can be permanently attached to a separate blow-molded plastic container. The handle has a contoured portion which comfortably confronts the palm and fingers of a hand of a person lifting the container. The handle is lightweight, injection molded in simple molds, and stackable in a uniform manner so that a stack of the handles can be efficiently stored, transported, and readily machine fed to automated handle-to-bottle attachment equipment. The handle may also be made from recycled plastic for food application.

Container dome

A container dome with arch-like structures in elevation and polygon-shaped structures in plan. The arch-like structures are provided by pairs of chordal stiffening facets disposed in an endwise adjacent array extending transversely about the periphery of the dome to enhance top loading capability. Each pair of facets has an inwardly-convex chordal stiffening rib which defines a regular transverse polygon having an uneven number of sides to prevent dome ovalization. Preferably, multiple vertically-stacked tiers of facet pairs arrays are utilized with each array being radially offset from adjacent tiers.

Container

A hot-fillable, blow-molded container has a body portion with grip panels extending between a front label panel and a rear palm panel. The container body is configured to accommodate reductions in volume caused by hot-filling, capping, and subsequent cooling of contents in a manner which retains its aesthetic appearance when cooled yet which retains its structural integrity when opened and its contents poured.
