A method of producing a rotating guide component for a track assembly includes fixing at least one wear member to an outer surface of a tubular or annular substrate. The at least one wear member includes an inner portion, and the tubular or annular substrate includes an outer portion. The inner portion is mated to the outer portion, and the wear member is brazed to the tubular or annular substrate.

A method for manufacturing a component is provided. The method includes providing one or more notches on a surface of the component. Further, depositing a coating on the surface to provide a thickness of the coating on the surface, is performed. The method also includes removing, at least partially, the coating from the surface such that the thickness of the coating over the notches is different from the thickness of the coating on the surface adjacent to the notches.

A track roller shaft comprises a body including a revolved surface defining an axis of rotation, a radial direction, and a circumferential direction disposed about the axis of rotation. The body also defines a proximate axial end disposed along the axis of rotation, a radially extending hole that is disposed axially adjacent to the proximate axial end, and a guide member receiving pocket disposed axially farther away from the proximate axial end than the radially extending hole.

A roller assembly for a ground-engaging track system includes a roller forming a shaft bore, and a roller shaft within the shaft bore and having a circumferential ramp surface. A roller retention system for the roller assembly includes a roller retention collar with an outer peripheral surface, and an inner peripheral surface that may include a wedge surface structured to friction fit the retention collar, within a collar bore in the roller, upon the circumferential ramp surface to limit axial displacement of the roller upon the roller shaft. The roller assembly may include two roller retention collars supporting the roller against axial displacement without use of thrust washers or the like, and fixing the roller and roller shaft to rotate together relative to a track roller frame.

A track shoe includes a base plate, a grouser extending from the base plate, and at least one white iron member. At least a portion of the grouser includes a substantially martensitic structure. The at least one white iron member is fixed to a portion of the grouser.

A ground-engaging track includes a track chain formed of standard links and at least one master link. The master link include a first half link and a second half link, clamped together by way of a forward bolt and a rearward bolt. Clamping surfaces of the first half link and the second half link form a first tooth set and a second tooth set, respectively, which may include a total of 2 or 3 full teeth and tooth roots, confined in distribution between a forward bolt hole and a rearward bolt hole.

An example bushing has three portions along its radial direction including an inner portion most proximal to a central hole of the bushing, an outer portion most distal from the center hole, and a core portion between the inner portion and the outer portion. The core portion has a hardness that is less than the hardness of the inner portion or the outer portion of the bushing. The bushing may be formed using high carbon steel, which in some cases may be spheroidal cementite crystal structure. A rough bushing may be formed using the high carbon steel, followed by a direct hardening process, and an induction hardening process on the inner surface most proximal to the central hole of the bushing. The induction hardening on the inner surface may harden the outer portion while tempering the core portion of the bushing.

A bushing for a track assembly includes a tubular bushing substrate having a longitudinal length and an outer surface. The outer surface includes at least one flat portion. The bushing also includes at least one white iron member. The at least one white iron member includes a flat inner surface, and the flat inner surface of the at least one white iron member is fixed to the flat portion of the outer surface of the tubular bushing substrate.

A steel track chain component, such as a track bushing, may be formed with a carburized portion, a hardface portion, and a core portion. The core portion may be softer than the carburized portion, which in turn, may be softer than the hardface portion. This configuration of the various portions of the component may allow for relatively high wear resistance of the component, as well as toughness. The core portion may be mostly ferrite crystal structure, while the carburized portion and the hardface portions may include martensitic and/or austenitic crystal structure. The carburized portion may be formed by carburizing the track chain component in a heated and carbon rich environment. The hardface portion may be formed by welding a hardface alloy over at least a portion of the carburized portion.

A bushing for a track assembly, according to one or more embodiments, includes: a tubular bushing substrate having a longitudinal length and an outer surface; and at least one white iron member fixed to the outer surface of the tubular bushing substrate.

The central element may be interference fit or positioned between the first end element and the second end element, and the central element may include a greater hardness than the first and second end elements. The first end element, the second end element, and the central element form a bushing with a longitudinal opening extending longitudinally through the bushing.
