An enclosure for an electrical device includes a five-sided case with an open side closable by a removable cover. First and second pocket plates are mounted in the case and ogether with a side wall of the case define a compartment for receiving the electrical device. The first pocket plate flexes away from a side wall of the case to enlarge the opening into the compartment for receiving the electrical device. Once the electrical device is in the compartment the first pocket plate is biased into engagement with the device to retain it in the compartment. The second pocket plate is spaced from the back wall of the case to prevent contact between the electrical device and the back wall.

Enclosure for electrical equipment

This disclosure relates to a through-wall protection device which provides a passageway through a structure and to an aperture in a housing. The through-wall protection device includes an elongated tube and a bushing with a proximal opening, a distal opening and a bore connecting the openings. The elongated tube and bushing may be locked together using complementary engaging structures which prevent the elongated tube from being removed from within the bore of the bushing. The present disclosure also relates to a method of defining a protected passageway through a structure using the through-wall protection device described herein.

Through-wall protection device

A circuit for a security system includes a power circuit, a closed loop detection circuit and an alarm circuit. The detection circuit includes a first loop circuit with an alarm sensor and a second loop circuit with a relay. The alarm circuit provides a plurality of output voltages or signals to at least one alarm device, such as two 120 VAC outputs and two 12 VDC outputs. The alarm circuit is coupled to the relay of the detection circuit, such that an alarm condition sensed by the alarm sensor causes the relay to supply energy from the power circuit to the plurality of outputs to activate at least one alarm device. The security system may be turned on and off by a remote control.

Security system and electrical circuit therefor

A high voltage splice box formed of non-conductive material having a back wall and an integral side and end walls around the full periphery of the back wall and providing an enclosed area within open front having a front peripheral edge. A post is formed of electrically non-conductive material extending from the back wall and spaced from the side wall and has a top attachment surface at a height less than the depth of the side wall, the attachment surface providing a place where multiple conductors can be interconnected. A cover has a circumferential lip sealably attached to the box front peripheral edge. The post attachment surface is spaced from the box back wall, side walls, end walls and cover at distances to prevent arching between a conductor secured to the post attachment surface and conductive objects exterior of the box.

High voltage splice box for wet locations

A shielded wiring system for a high voltage AC current having a flexible cable formed of a central current carrying electrical conductor, a symmetrical layer of insulation concentrically surrounding the central conductor, a symmetrical circumferential layer of shielding conductor surrounding the layer of insulation, and a symmetrical outer sheath of insulation surrounding the shielding conductor, and a connector for connecting the flexible cable to a piece of equipment, the connector having a central electrical conductor and a concentric shield grounded to the piece of equipment, and a short length of bare conductive metal inserted through an opening in the outer sheath of insulation whereby an inner portion conductively engages the shielding conductor and an outer portion engages the concentric shield of the piece of equipment, whereby the symmetrical relationship of a central current carrying conductor within a symmetrical concentric conductive shield providing a concentric and substantially uniform electrostatic field and continuity of ground is maintained throughout the system.

Shielded wiring system for high voltage AC current

For use with a flexible cable having a central current carrying electrical conductor, a symmetrical layer of insulation concentrically surrounding the central conductor, a symmetrical circumferential layer of shielding conductor surrounding the layer of insulation, and a symmetrical outer sheath of insulation surrounding the shielding conductor, a wiring system formed of a fitting of conductive material having a passageway therethrough that receives the flexible cable, a short length shield connector of bare conductive metal having a first portion inserted through an opening in the flexible cable outer sheath of insulation to conductively engage the cable circumferential layer of shielding conductor and having a second portion that remains exterior of the flexible cable outer sheath of insulation; and a short length electrically conductive tubular ground ring slidably received on the cable and overlying a portion of the shield connector, the ground ring being crimpable whereby when crimped it securely engages the exterior of the cable and the shield connector, the fitting being slidably positioned over the ground ring, continuity thereby being provided from the cable shielding conductor through the shield connector and the ground ring to the fitting.

Waterproof high voltage connector

A wiring system by which a high voltage AC current is transported from a transformer to a neon light in a manner to reduce arcing and therefore fire potential, employing a flexible cable having a central current carrying electrical conductor, a symmetrical layer of insulation concentrically surrounding the central conductor, and a symmetrical circumferential layer of shielding conductor surrounding the layer of insulation, and at least one connector for connecting the flexible cable to another piece of equipment, the connector providing a central electrical conductor and a concentric shield grounded to the piece of equipment so that a symmetrical relationship of a central current carrying conductor within a concentric conductive shield providing a concentric and substantially uniform electrostatic field and continuity of ground is maintained throughout the system.

High voltage wiring system for neon lights

A fire barrier is provided for use in connection with a structural wall having a hole through which a thermoplastic conduit normally extends. The barrier includes a housing having a side wall extending around the hole and the conduit, and defining an interior space extending between the conduit and the housing. A first end of the housing is attached to the structural wall, and the opposing end is closed around the conduit. A first support matrix is provided within the housing adjacent the second end, and defines a plurality of voids extending radially between the conduit and the side wall of the housing. A second support matrix provided adjacent the first axial end defines a plurality of longitudinal voids extending in a direction substantially parallel to the length of the conduit. An intumescent material substantially fills the voids of the support matrices so that as a fire adjacent the wall causes failure of the conduit, the intumescent material expands in the directions of orientation of the voids and forms a barrier that prevents the fire from propagating through the hole.

Fire barrier

A floor mat is disclosed which provides a flexible, resilient, cushioned, tread surface and substantial foreign matter collection area. The preferred floor mat includes a plurality of elongated, flexible, resilient, spaced-apart, intercoupled rails. Each preferred rail includes a plurality of elongated, upstanding, spaced-apart cleaning structures extending upwardly from the rail top surface with a transverse wall between adjacent cleaning structures which together cooperatively define respective collection troughs. Each transverse wall includes a plurality of foreign matter removal openings and each rail includes a plurality of elongated, longitudinally disposed passageways extending substantially along the length of each rail and positioned respectively beneath a corresponding cleaning structure for cushioning impact on the cleaning structures.

Cushioning floor mat

An expansion joint assembly for use between elongated, adjacent, relatively shiftable, joint-defining structural sections (e.g., floor sections) is provided which exhibits three degrees of freedom for accommodating essentially all relative movement of structural members. The preferred assembly is fire-rated and includes a pair of elongated metallic supports adapted for fixed attachment to a corresponding structural section adjacent an expansion joint, together with an elongated, flexible, U-shaped bridging member. Connection between the bridging member and the supports is provided by means of interfitted, longitudinally shiftable U-shaped elements respectively secured to the supports and the adjacent edges of the bridging member. The metallic supports preferably include abutment structure overlying a corresponding interfitted pair of connection elements, in order to maintain the elements in their proper orientation, even in the event of vertical shifting of the structural sections.

Fire-rated expansion joint having three degrees of freedom

A fire-rated, flush mounted corner guard is provided which serves to maintain continuous integrity in the fire rating of building walls notwithstanding the recessing thereof to accommodate a corner guard and consequent lessening of the amount of fire rock present at the corner. The corner guard preferably includes an upright, continuous, floor-to-ceiling, L-shaped in cross-section synthetic resin corner cover, means for resiliently mounting the cover within a corner recess substantially flush with the building walls, and insulating means within the corner recess beneath the cover. In this way the corner guard assembly provides a fire rating substantially equivalent to the fire rating of the walls. Preferably, the insulating means includes a heat-expandable continuous ceramic insulating sheet and steel protector disposed over the insulating material and beneath the cover and which overlaps the wall outermost surfaces adjacent the corner portion.

Fire-rated flush mounted corner guard

A roll up floor mat is provided with rails or sections hingedly interconnected by alternating, flexible strips, which, in turn serve to cushion the mat by use of laterally extending flaps interposed between the floor or other supporting surface and the rail sections, the flaps being integral with the hinge assemblies between the sections.
