An oscillator system having: an UHF oscillator, such as a SAW oscillator, for producing a signal having a controllable frequency; a passive vibration, suppressor mechanically coupled to the UHF oscillator for suppressing vibrations above a predetermined bandwidth BW1 on the UHF oscillator; and an active vibration suppressor. The active vibration suppressor includes an accelerometer for sensing vibrations within a predetermined bandwidth BW2 on the UHF oscillator; and an HF or VHF oscillator, such as a crystal oscillator, producing a signal having a frequency controlled by the accelerometer. A control loop having a bandwidth changeable with sensed vibration level is fed the oscillator and the UHF oscillator for controlling the frequency of the signal produced by the SAW oscillator in accordance with a difference between the signal produced the HF or VHF oscillator and the signal produced by the UHF oscillator, the control loop having a bandwidth BW3; where BW1&#x3c;BW3&#x3c;BW2.

Passive and active suppression of vibration induced phase noise in oscillators

A device, comprising a substrate having opposing first and second surfaces, a first surface acoustic wave resonator disposed on the first surface of the substrate, a second surface acoustic wave resonator disposed on the second surface of the substrate, a first adhesive layer sandwiched between the first surface acoustic wave resonator and the substrate, and a second adhesive layer sandwiched between the second surface acoustic wave resonator.

An oscillator having: (A) a transistor for producing an oscillating output signal at an output electrode of the transistor. The oscillator includes; (B) a bias circuit for producing a bias signal for the transistor, said bias circuit including an amplifier coupled to the output electrode of the transistor; and (C) a circuit coupled between an output of the amplifier and a control electrode of the transistor, for isolating the bias signal provided by the amplifier from the oscillating signal.

Low noise oscillators

A double oven crystal oscillator (DOCXO) is disclosed which is highly stable by incorporating means to reduce the effects of ambient pressure changes on the frequency of the oscillator. The oscillator crystal is mounted in a temperature controlled inner oven to reduce the effects on the frequency stability of the oscillator. The oscillator circuitry and all circuitry associated with the inner oven is mounted in good thermal contact with the inner oven. A Faraday shield at ground potential is placed over the oscillator circuitry to minimize the effects of stray capacitance between the oscillator components and the case wall of the inner oven. The effects of minor deformations in the case walls within the oscillator caused by ambient pressure changes and other factors causing pressure changes are thereby greatly minimized. To further reduce effects on oscillator frequency stability the ovens of the DOCXO are temperature controlled, cases are hermetically sealed, the case walls are rigid, and ovens and cases may be evacuated.

High stability double oven crystal oscillator

A transmission line configured as a looped-stub resonator is disclosed, which can be used as a frequency selective element for an oscillator, such as a VCO of a phase locked loop. The transmission line is a fraction of an electrical wavelength, and can be embedded to provide an inner resonant layer of an overall layered structure. The transmission line is formed into a loop or multiple loops and may be terminated with a capacitor, short circuit, or open circuit. In the embedded case, dielectric insulating material can be used to surround the transmission line on top and bottom surfaces as layers. In addition, electrically conducting material layers can be used to surround the dielectric insulating material.

Oscillator module incorporating spiral looped-stub resonator

The present invention is for a thermally controlled package for oscillators, particularly evacuated miniature surface acoustical wave oscillators (EMSO) devices. In a preferred embodiment the surface acoustical wave device is bonded directly to a heated substrate. The package is evacuated to improve temperature characteristics. A temperature heater, sensor, and control controller are utilized to maintain the internal package temperature above ambient. In one embodiment there is an additional substrate layer that house components that are not sensitive to temperature with interconnects electrically connecting the heated substrate and the additional substrates.
