A privacy shroud assembly specifically designed to increase the privacy of an occupant of a chair structure when the chair structure is in a reclined position for extended periods of rest or sleep. The assembly includes a supporting base fixed to the support surface on which the chair structure is mounted and a shroud or shield portion movably coupled to the base so as to be selectively positionable between a stored position and an operative position. The operative position is at least partially defined by an upward and outward position of the shield portion in a somewhat rearward orientation to the chair structure and in at least partially surrounding relation to the reclined backrest and, of course, an upper body portion of an occupant thereon. A cover structure may be movably mounted so as to selectively close or open an open top of the shield portion thereby adding to an occupant's privacy and blocking or restricting ambient light from entering the area where the occupant on the reclined chair structure rests.

Privacy shroud for aircraft seats

A void or space filling assembly designed to be used in combination with a chair structure of the type having a reclining backrest and normally found in airplane or ground travel vehicles as well as other permanent locations where such chair structures are desirable. The assembly includes a resilient, flexible material bladder which is expandable, upon being at least partially filled with fluid. The bladder is located on the chair structure adjacent the junction between the backrest and seat portion thereof and is specifically disposed and dimensioned to extend in filling and/or covering relation to any spacing or void normally existing at the junction of the backrest and seat portion when the backrest is disposed into its reclined position. The disposition of the bladder in this space filling position will allow for the seat portion, bladder and backrest to collectively define a substantially continuous support surface on which persons can comfortably recline and thereby avoid the discomfort of any significant voids or spaces in the reclining surface.

Assembly for filling void between cushions of reclining seats

A system including a chair assembly and an ottoman assembly used to seat or otherwise support an individual wherein the subject system is particularly adapted for use on either commercial or multi-passenger private aircraft and is specifically structured to enhance the overall comfort and privacy of a passenger when utilizing the system as well as maximize the use of passenger space by providing access to certain amenities thereby defining an effective and comfortable environment for the passenger. Portions of the ottoman and chair assemblies are specifically structured for positioning toward and away from one another into a completely reclined or horizontal support position so as to allow the passenger or occupant to assume such a position, as when resting or sleeping. A privacy shroud structure is also included with the subject assemblies and is selectively positionable so as to greatly enhance the privacy of an occupant of the system and restrict any disturbing light from entering the subject privacy shroud.

Reclining seat and ottoman system for aircraft including amenity cabinet

An aircraft divan, for use within a passenger compartment of an aircraft, that includes a strong rigid base structure adapted to be secured to a support surface within the aircraft and including a plurality of substantially strong, yet lightweight frame members. A plurality of substantially strong, yet lightweight connectors, each one of the connectors being structured and disposed to connectingly receive at least two of the frame members, including an exterior wall structure defining at least one interior cavity and at least two frame member receiving openings, and comprising a first interlocking segment and a second interlocking segment, the first interlocking segment structured to at least partially receive the second interlocking segment and the first and second interlocking segments being structured to be interlockingly connected with one another in sandwiching relation about at least one end zone of the frame members. Moreover, each of the frame member receiving openings is structured and disposed to receive and surround one of the end zones of one of the frame members therethrough and to maintain the end zone of the frame member fastened in a secured, fixed position within the interior cavity of the connector.

Aircraft divan

An attenuated aircraft seat back assembly for use on an aircraft passenger seat of the type which includes a seat back frame with a front side and a rear side, the attenuated assembly comprising a mount assembly structured to be secured at the rear side of the seat back frame, preferably at an upper end thereof, and an impact absorbent, generally rigid material panel fixedly secured thereto. The mount assembly is structured to securely maintain the rigid material panel in a generally parallel orientation relative to the seat back frame, and spaced apart from the seat back frame by a predetermined distance. The rigid material panel, which is sized and configured to shield an upper region of the seat back frame, is substantially lightweight and includes a honeycomb interior core structured and disposed to substantially resist the force of a direct impact thereto, while still yielding sufficiently so that an object impacting the rigid material panel will have a Head Injury Criteria (HIC) value which is acceptable under current Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Preferably, an energy absorbent, resilient material panel is adhered to a front face of the rigid material panel, and together have a combined thickness of generally about two inches, while being spaced apart from the seat back frame in assembled form so as to minimize an overall thickness of the assembly.

Attenuated seat back assembly for an aircraft passenger seat

An aircraft divan which includes a strong, rigid base structure having a plurality of substantially strong, yet lightweight tubular frame members secured, so as to define the base structure, by a plurality of substantially strong, yet lightweight connectors, each of the connectors having an exterior wall structure which defines at least one interior cavity and at least two tube receiving openings wherethrough the tubular frame members pass into securing disposition within the interior cavity of the connector. Secured in spanning relation between select ones of the tubular frame members is at least one panel member which defines at least one exterior face of the base structure whereon padding is disposed, the padding and base structure being substantially covered by external upholstery.

In one embodiment, the linear brake includes a carriage riding over a threaded rod. A pair of jaws is carried by the carriage and each jaw has a jaw face at one end thereof. The jaw face includes a plurality of spaced jaw recesses that are adapted to mate with the threads on the threaded rod. The fore sections of each jaw face are juxtaposed. Each jaw is adapted to rotate in a plane of engagement. Each jaw has, spaced from the jaw face, a hole normal to the plane of engagement. The carriage includes pivot pins having an outside diameter smaller than the hole such that the jaw recesses move both rotationally and laterally away from the threads on the threaded rod when the brake is released. A spring forces the jaw recesses into the threads on the rod. Counteracting forces, applied by pulling cables, move the jaw faces away from the threads and then partially rotate the faces in the plane of engagement away from the threaded rod thereby allowing linear travel of the carriage along the threaded rod surface. A method for linearly braking the carriage and a chair incorporating the linear brake is also disclosed.
