A method of preventing the headache phase of migraine in a human comprises administration of a 5HTreceptor agonist or administration of an over-the-counter or nonprescription drug to said human exhibiting prodrome symptoms of migraine. Suitably, the method comprises administration of a migraine headache phase-preventing effective amount of the 5HTagonist or over-the-counter or nonprescription drug. There is disclosed a preemptive prophylaxis migraine method using the following cognitive tests: Simple Reaction Time; Running Memory Continuous Performance Task; Matching to Sample; Mathematical Processing Task; and interpreting the results as a percent of baseline indicator of need for prophylaxis.

Preemptive prophylaxis of migraine

A method for measuring cognitive efficiency uses the following cognitive tests: Simple Reaction Time; Running Memory Continuous Performance Task; Matching to Sample; and Mathematical Processing Task. A device for measuring cognitive efficiency includes a microprocessor having a memory; the aforementioned cognitive tests loaded into the memory; a baseline stored in the memory, means for computing the score on a run of these tests and for storing the score in the memory; the means for computing being operative for comparing the score to the stored baseline; and means for indicating a cognitive change from the baseline. Changes in cognitive efficiency may be measured by comparing the results of the cognitive tests to a baseline.

A preemptive prophylaxis migraine device includes a microprocessor having a memory; the aforementioned cognitive tests loaded into the memory; means for computing the score on a trial of these tests to establish a baseline, for storing the baseline in the memory, for computing the score of a subsequent trial of the tests, and for comparing the same to the stored baseline; and means for indicating a cognitive change.

Preemptive prophylaxis of migraine device and method

A method for enhancing serum dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels in human beings resulting in improved host response to infection and resistance to pathogenic and opportunistic infectious organisms. The serum concentration of DHEA is elevated through the use of topically applied preparations containing the steroid, progesterone, through two different types of electronic stimulators applied to specific acupuncture points on an individual's body, or by combination of the two methods. One or more of the methods may be applicable to the whole.

Method for enhancement of dehydroepiandrosterone

A light emitting relaxation device and method for placing a subject in a relaxed state. The relaxation device includes a portable mask that has a flashing light source. When the mask is positioned on the subject's head a flashing light, have a preselected color, is emitted into the subject's eyes. The color is selected to increase beta endorphins in the bloodstream of the subject. The mask, preferably, is totally self-contained having built-in controls to set the speed, intensity and duration of the flashing light.
