The present invention provides a bar code reader support stand that is portable and easy to set up in addition to being stable and not easily tipped. The support stand provides a reading surface on which to place a coded medium. The support stand further provides a securing area for mounting a bar code reader, such that said bar code reader is held at a predetermined and fixed distance and angle with respect to said reading surface. The fixed position and orientation of the bar code reader with respect to the reading surface allows for a consistently reliable reading of the coded medium. Installation and usage of the device can be more efficient since the user need not adjust the bar code reader orientation at the time of set-up, nor re-adjust it during the course of usage. The design of the weight-stabilised base allows the device to be set up and used in an active environment without the need to rigidly connect it to a table top by means of screws or bolts. The bar code reader stand according to the present invention may also include a protective structure for protecting the cable interconnected with the bar code reader. Said protective structure can provide protection for the cable itself as well as to the point of connection between said cable and the electronic device or bar code reader.

A method and apparatus for classifying articles according to their color, wherein a first pair of wavelengths is selected on a plurality of light reflection curves in terms of a reflected light wavelength spectrum. An article to be inspected is illuminated with light comprising the first pair of wavelengths and light reflected therefrom is measured to detect light reflection values corresponding to this first pair or wavelengths. A primary signal is produced, which represents a resulting difference between the detected light reflection values, this signal being indicative of the color of the inspected article. At least one secondary wavelength is selected on the reflected light wavelength spectrum, and the inspected article is illuminated with light comprising this secondary wavelength and light reflected therefrom is measured to produce a secondary signal which is further indicative of the color of the inspected article. A computer provides a classification frame comprising a first pattern consisting of a first and second crossing set of lines respectively defined by mathematical analysis, this classification frame defining a plurality of color classes. The computer classifies the inspected article in one of the plurality of color classes defined by the frame whenever the primary and secondary signals comply with a specific condition. The computer rejects the inspected article whenever the primary and secondary signals do not comply with this specific condition.

Method and apparatus for classifying articles according to their color

Method and apparatus for sensing the color of articles wherein a first pair of wavelengths is selected on a plurality of light reflection curves in terms of reflected light wavelength spectrum, these curves being associated with a plurality of articles constituting a sample representative of the color range to be sensed. The first pair of wavelengths delimits a first range of wavelengths corresponding to light reflection values in these curves, the light reflection values in each of the curves being in a substantially linear relationship over said first range of wavelengths. Each article to be inspected is illuminated with light comprising the first pair of wavelengths, and the light reflected therefrom is measured to detect light reflection values corresponding to the first pair of wavelengths. A primary signal is produced which represents a resulting difference between said detected light reflection values, this signal being indicative of the color of the inspected article.

Method and apparatus for sensing color of articles

A vehicle sensing apparatus and method for detecting the size and speed of a vehicle travelling on a roadway. The apparatus comprises a directional microwave non-emitting antenna for collecting reflected microwave signals from above a roadway. An electronic vehicle sensing circuit is connected to the antenna for processing detected signals to identify a vehicle's physical parameter. The sensing circuit has an ambient temperature detector and a peak detector, the latter detecting a reflected temperature signal at said antenna and generating a detected temperature signal. A physical parameter calculating circuit is provided for determining the true amplitude of the detected signal and interpreted by the maximum ratio of the solid angles of the antenna beam filled by the vehicle to be detected and a roadway in the beam of the antenna. A processing circuit (ROM) is provided to identify the vehicle's physical parameter. A vehicle speed calculating circuit (ROM) is also connected to the peak detector for providing a value of the antenna effective footing length to a divider circuit which is also fed a half pulse time whereby to provide a corrected velocity output signal.

Microwave size/speed vehicle detector

A multiple frequency adaptive filter system for filtering undesired periodic and/or correlated interference signals contained in the same frequency band as a desired input signal. The filter system is capable of filtering at least two sinusoidal interference signals and incorporates a negative feedback loop having a transfer function of that of narrow band-pass multiple filter. The feedback loop using interference frequencies generates a corresponding interference enhanced output signal. This enhanced output signal is combined with the input signal whereby to produce an error signal which corresponds to the desired signal contained in the input frequency band. A double or quadruple filter system is also described as examples of the present invention. The filter system is suitable for removing modulated sinusoidal interference and particularly for reducing TV co-channel interference.

Multiple frequency adaptive noise filter for removing interference

A digital system for removing, from a television signal, the electrical noise generated by faulty isolators from power lines. A thin horizontal segment noise detector locates possible noisy pixels (picture elements), and an image horizontal line verifier prevents false alarms given by the noise detector. An image corrector is provided to remove detected noise. The real time algorithm described in the invention is designed to provide a robust detector pseudo independent of noise waveforms, a memory window of three video delay lines, and a low cost digital hardware system.

Electrical noise reducer for T.V. signals

An electric nerve stimulation device and apparatus for suppressing organic pain and other functional disorders of the nervous system without noxious sensation and substantially free from the adaptation phenomenon which usually results from subjecting receptors and nerve cells to uniform stimulating signals. The device includes a pulse generator to produce bipolar rectangular waveforms at preselected repetition rate and of a preselected width during a given first time period. Electronic circuits are connected to the post generator to deliver rectangular waveforms at a repetition rate which is chosen by a pseudo-random function for a second time period which is also chosen by a pseudo-random function. Further circuitry is provided to inhibit delivery of pulse waves for a third period of time. This third period of time is chosen by a pseudo-random function, thereby substantially eliminating noxious sensations and adaptation of nerve cells to stimulation during suppression of the organic pain. Electrodes are connected to the output of the device to apply the waveforms to nerve fibers to be stimulated thereby.
