Articulate continuous miner

An apparatus for use in a conveyor train for continuously conveying a supply of coal provided by a machine working at a mine face to a remote floor conveyor is provided. The apparatus includes at least one propelled conveyor assembly which may be pivotally connected to a combination of other like propelled conveyor assemblies and conventional bridge conveyor assemblies to form an articulated conveyor train ending from the machine to the remote floor conveyor. Each conveyor assembly has a conveying mechanism, with a receiving section and a discharge section that transports the supply of coal from the receiving section to the discharge section. The propelled conveyor assembly includes first and second crawler units disposed below and rotatably mounted to the propelled conveyor assembly. Each of the first and second crawler units includes a pair of longitudinally coextensive parallel endless track assemblies selectively independently drivable in either direction so as to permit the crawler unit to be pivoted horizontally. A leading frame assembly of the propelled conveyor assembly includes inboard and outboard sections constructed and arranged to pivot vertically about a inboard and outboard horizontal pivot axes, and a trailing frame assembly of the propelled conveyor assembly is constructed and arranged to pivot vertically about a trailing horizontal pivot axis.

Apparatus for continuously conveying coal from a continuous mining

A continuous mining machine comprising a forward cutter assembly connected for horizontal pivotal movements with respect to a rearward assembly mounted on the endless track assembly. The cutter assembly includes a central frame and a pair of said frames mounted on the central frame for independent pivotal movement about a pair of axes generally parallel with each other extending in a longitudinal direction corresponding generally to the forward direction of movement of the forward assembly with respect to the mine face. An elongated shaft is rotatalby mounted on each of the side frames so as to extend longitudinally from a position adjacent the rearward portion of the associated side frame forwardly thereof to an extent such that a forward end portion of each shaft extends forwardly of the associated side frame. A speed reducing units is mounted on each side frame between the associated shaft and the associated pivotal axis in driving relation with respect to the rearward portion of the associated shaft. An electric motor is mounted on each side frame between the associated shaft and the associated pivotal axis forwardly of the associated speed reducing unit in driving reltion thereto. The hydraulic ram units which effect the swinging movement of the cutter assembly are detachably mounted so as to enable the same to be operated in such a way that contracting and extending movements are utilized to effect removal and installation of the motor and speed reducing unit on the corresponding side frame rather than pivotal movements of the cutter assembly.

Dual auger continuous mining machine

A continuous mining machine comprising an elongated conveyor assembly for continuously conveying coal cut from a coal seam rearwardly away from the face of the coal seam being cut having a frame structure associated therewith. A power driven cutting assembly is disposed forwardly with respect to the frame structure for cutting coal from the coal seam for conveyance rearwardly by the conveyor assembly. A pair of power driven endless track units is provided for mounting the cutting and conveyor assemblies for movement between a tramming position wherein the assemblies are supported on power driven endless track units in a generally balanced condition for transport within the mine and an operative cutting position wherein the assemblies are moved forwardly in a generally unbalanced condition. Vertically extensible and retractable jacks are carried by the power driven endless track units for extension into mine roof engagement so as to stabilize the units when the cutting assemblies are moved from the tramming position into the operative cutting position. Power operated units are provided for moving the assemblies from the tramming position into the operative cutting position while the vertically extensible and retractable means is extended into mine roof engagement.

Continuous mining machine

A continuous mining machine comprising a cutter assembly including a cutter frame, a pair of oppositely pitched independently vertically movable auger cutters having their axes of rotation disposed generally parallel with respect to one another, a mobile assembly disposed rearwardly of the cutter assembly and including a mobile frame having a pair of parallel power driven endless track units mounted thereon for independent pivotal movement of each unit about a common generally transversely extending horizontal axis disposed adjacent to the forward portion of the track units, a yoke assembly between the mobile assembly and the cutter assembly including a yoke frame pivotally interconnected with the mobile frame for pivotal movement about an axis generally parallel with the common pivotal axis of the track units and pivotally interconnected with the cutter frame for pivotal movement about a generally upright axis extending generally perpendicularly to the pivotal axis of the yoke frame with the mobile frame, and conveyor means including a forward section carried by the cutter frame and a rearward section carried by the mobile frame for conveying coal cut by the auger cutters longitudinally rearwardly of the machine, the forward portion of the rearward conveyor section being mounted on the mobile frame for pivotal movement about an axis parallel to the common pivotal axis of the track units.

Mobile dual auger continuous mining machine with multiple movement

An improved advancing mechanism for a dual auger continuous miner of the type adapted to be advanced by a pair of anchoring jack assemblies, a pair of cables extending from the anchoring jack assemblies to a pair of winch mechanisms on the sides of the frame. The mechanism includes a mounting arm mounted on each side of the frame for movement about a vertical axis, a telescoping structure extending longitudinally between each mounting arm and the associated anchoring jack assembly and hydraulic piston and cylinder units for effecting the pivotal movement of each arm and the telescoping movement of each telescoping structure.
